Shaq was on the 2K6 cover as well, not to mention Wade on the Live 06 cover.

There's not really a curse for either basketball game (especially on the 2K games AFAIK).

Here's a recent 360 image from the game:

I thought it was already established he was going to be their cover boy every year?

Man, he has to be the most used NBA player for game covers. From al the way back to NBA Hoopz, to Inside Drive and now a couple of covers of 2K; he's been around. Though, I think TMac has been on a good share as well.

Man, I am SO looking forward to this. I saw a few vids during E3 and was blown away by how much better it looked in terms of graphics and gameplay. And this is cominig from someone who loves and still plays the 360 version of 2K6.

That might be the case. I don't really follow the news about who gets on the cover, so I wouldn't know for sure. From the initial reports, I thought it was just a deal to make him the 2K6 cover man (kind of like Ben Wallace was on 2K5). If he was supposed to be the guy for a while, it seemed like a lot of people were still trying to guess who would be on the new cover. Even Wikipedia has "--" as the 2K7 athlete (although that might change pretty soon:

oh, I could be wrong. Maybe I'm thinking of Inside Drive. Maybe it was them who decided Shaq was going to be their only player before they stopped making it. Man, that game had some great potential. :(

I was hoping every year they would change ala Live, but I guess they made a deal with Shaq kinda of like how Sega did with AI when they first released the games on Dreamcast and the rest of the next gen systems.

If you squint really hard you can probably see him on Live 96 for SNES/Genesis too. ;)

It sure did. That's why you play it all the time.

(2k6 was developed (in part) by the team behind the Inside Drive series)

    :D
