Probably not a big deal for most of you, but this big news for some even though it is just a release date.

Odd that this is a Sunday and that it costs $60 (MS-published games were supposed to be $50 AFAIK).

Cool. This is supposed to be the next 'big' release for the 360. Not surprising that they would target it around the PS3 launch, though I thought Halo 3 was supposed originally fill that role.

The game looks cool as hell and I like that you can play co-op through the whole thing. Should be good.

    Lookinf forward to it.

I think Gears of War was one of the first next-gen/360 games I heard about (even before I knew the name of the 360). Even then, it sounded like it was head and shoulders above the competition.

Hopefully it works it well for CliffyB and the people at Epic.

RC, i noticed you said this in your August game thread as well.. I dont think I have ever seen any MS Studio game go for only $50.00 on the 360 when it came out.. Is this a new thing they are starting at MS??

Technically, this isn't a game from one of Microsoft's 1st party developers (IOW, not a MGS-developed game)....but then again, PGR3 wasn't either. I can't remember if the policy was games from MGS studios or games published by Microsoft.

I'm guessing that they will price their big hits at $60 (Halo 3 will be there I imagine). If I'm not mistaken, Sony started having $40 1st-party games, but then they put out God of War (another GoW) and GT4 at $50 (IIRC...I might be wrong). Hopefully, that is the case and MS will stick to $50 for most of their games, and $60 for the games people don't mind paying that much for.

edit: I misread your post. AFAIK, PD0, PGR, Kameo, and a few other games were $50 when the 360 launched.
edit2:All the games have now dropped in prices, so they aren't at $50 anymore. Here's one link about it though and you could probably find more if you searched:
