jim rome used to be all over that lady to. I felt bad for her, hard enough being a woman in this business. and the funny thing is rome usually never goes after other radio hosts on air.
I think you should put the cough in ALL of your posts. Every forum. and then once every 6 weeks or so just remind people that they need to forgive you, you have a cough.
If you guys think the Golf Hour is bad you should try listening to Lance interview some guy from the Ultimate Fighting league, or whatever it is, right now. Talking UCF is like a drug to Lance, it's like he's in love. John has completely disappeared.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/4082831.html KILT continues to outshine KBME By DAVID BARRON Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle Arbitron's spring book was a good one for Houston's two sports talk stations, although KILT (610 AM) continues with a clear lead over KBME (790 AM). Here's how things broke down for the weekday daytime parts during the April-June ratings period for KILT and KBME, plus Ralph Cooper's afternoon show on KCOH (1430 AM), among the men's 25-54 demographic: • Morning drive: KILT had its strongest showing from 6 to 10 a.m. with a 5.4 share, third-best in the market. That's up from 4.2 in the January-March book and from 2.9 a year ago. KBME's ESPN Radio lineup had a 1.1 share for 24th place, up from 0.6 a year ago and even with the winter book. • Midday: KILT led again at 4.2, sixth-best in the market, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. That's down from 4.5 a year ago and from 4.7 in the winter. KBME's 1.1 share, which ranked 28th, was up from 0.6 a year ago but down from 1.6 for January-March. • Afternoon drive: KILT held steady at 4.2, tied for sixth, from 3 to 7 p.m. That's up from 3.9 a year ago and down from 4.3 in the winter. KBME's 2.0 share, which ranked 21st, was up from 1.4 a year ago and from 1.7 for the winter. KCOH's afternoon drive share of 0.7, which includes the two-hour Cooper show, was up from 0.6 in the winter book and from 0.2 a year ago. For 6 a.m. through midnight for the entire week, KILT was the top all-sports station at 3.7, seventh in the market, up from 3.1 a year ago. KBME's 1.2 share was up from .7 a year ago. KILT program director Bill Van Rysdam noted that KILT's 4.6 share from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays among men 25-54 was third-best in the market and was the top English-language station and top AM station in that demo. "I'm happy," he said. "Our guys do a great job. People like what they hear, and the ratings prove that."
You can't polish a turd and you can't defend Rich Lord. I would rather listen to Howard in Memorial whine about Jeff Bagwell for four hours than listen to Lord's hack takes. Off with his head (or at least off with his mic).
BMoney- I agree-Rich Lord gives bad information, mistates salaries and straightforward information. His pure arrogance is painful. His attitude toward the Rockets in general is spiteful. His comments about " I wanted Richard Jefferson instead of Eddie Griffin, and I was a sole voice of reason" -while accurate-the way he said it was painful. He is always right-little room for meaningful debate or exchange of information. Go back to Northern New Jersey and enjoy the winter and change of seasons Rich. there is a reason that you are no longer with Charlie Palillo.
Can Granato be any more of a homer/ass-kisser than he was this morning? How in the hell can you iview Lidge & Ensberg, as they're named are in every trade rumor. As they are sucking balls. And NOT ask some obvious questions? AND NOT ASK THEM WTF IS WRONG WITH THEM? Why is Lidge a headcase? Why is Ensberg dogging it - the MRI showed that nothing was wrong? How do they feel about Roy O's name being thrown out there? WTF is Garner such a polarizing manager?
i listen to 740 ktrh, and 610 kilt only. I don't listen to the other am stations, mainly because I keep forgetting to program 790 on my stereo.
That's completely uncalled for, Chance. You know those rating systems are flawed. They don't take in account houses that have... uh... more than two radios... and other things of that nature.
Well... plain and simple. Let me ask YOU: "Are you listening to a [certain] radio station?" Circle below: a. YES b. NO There's your answer, and now I know. (DON'T CIRCLE ON YOUR MONITOR)
You know, I went back through this thread and I kept wondering to myself, "What coughing are they talking about?" Then it hit me... Is everyone referring to the "throat clearing" when they come back from commercial and lead in with Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" If so, I hate to kill the joke, but that's in the song itself. To be honest, I thought it was someone clearing their throat also until I heard the song on XM radio. If that's not what everyone is referencing, then I must be desensitized to the coughing and throat clearing, because I don't notice it.
He's been a lot better lately, but it was him constantly clearing his throat directly into the microphone during segments.
Lance Z clears his throat a few hundred times each morning into the microphone. I exaggerate, of course. Sometimes though I worry the guy might need a Claritin or something. I seriously do NOT envy any of the guys on the radio. Great job. Brutal industry. My dad was in the radio biz back in the 70's and he calls it one of the toughest, most cutthroat industries anywhere. You see how changes happen suddenly and guys go from popular to out of a job in a week. Plus, their contracts have clauses that if they leave the station can keep them off the air for a year or more to keep them away from competition. It's a tough business.
Colin Cowherd is a very funny guy actually, his show is quite entertaining. As far as intelligence, and Mike Greenberg and Charlie pretty much blow anyone else away on that front. Golic is a moron, kind of like Rich Lord. Rome is the most entertaining still. I heard some late night guy on the weekend, he sounded like a drunk but he was a funny guy I forget his name, forget if he was on 610 or 790.
I don't like the Sporting News Radio guy that comes on after the Jackson/Wexler show. He's a Dallas homer...big time. He needs to go.
