First of all, I've already had my 'moment' about Dream leaving, it lasted about 10 minutes. I'm not down on the guy, it's a business and it's all about the benjamins ($$$) Then I got to thinking... there are some things I won't miss about Dream. Here are a few: -Ramadan - No more worrying if Dream's gonna make it through a game with no water or food... -The Heart Murmur - No more worrying whether or not his ticker was gonna explode. -Asthma - No more weezing, huffing and puffing down the court trying to keep up with the young bucks. -The leg circulation thing - No more worrying, "what's that stocking doing on Dream's leg?" Good luck in Toronto Dream! rH
The things I won't miss: 1. Watching him deteriorate in a Rockets jersey over the course of the year. The guy has been an icon...but it's been painful to watch him struggle against the best in the league....the guys he used to dominate. 2. Watching him stand around as he's gotten older...watching Vince Carter slam down a game winning dunk while Hakeem sat there and watched him do it. Things like this made me question his heart in these later years...I don't wanna question his heart, because I'd rather be blind to the truth and just revel in the legend of the man. But I'm really gonna miss how he was announced, "Hakeem....the Dream...Olaaaajjjuuuuwwwooooon!!!" during the pregame..and the reaction from Rocket fans. This is truly sad. I hate to blow sports out of proportion...but I've been watching this guy play basketball in this town since I was in elementary school. It's gonna be weird.
I won't miss seeing Rudy take Hakeem out of the game in the fourth quarter. I might get to like Rudy again.
yeah...rudy had no reason for keeping him out of those games. Hakeem had clearly shown he was in the physical shape necessary to put in those minutes down the stretch!! Pleeeaasseee!!! This argument is so funny to me. Maybe after he watched Hakeem step aside and allow Vince Carter to slam down a game winning dunk in the final seconds, Rudy thought it might be best to go a different direction.
One thing that will be interesting is how Hakeem will be greeted when he comes to Compaq. Will he get his ass booed right out of the stadium or will it be like when Clyde Drexler used to come to the Rose Garden? Clyde always get really warm welcomes, I hope the same for Dream.
I won't miss the point blank uncontested blown dunks. I was embarassed for Hakeem at the time, but won't be this season.
The Good: Hakeem would be gone in several years anyway, and now we can deal with what needs to be done(Fixing the glut at center) We can resign MO and Mooch if Fegan isnt such a **** The Bad: Hakeem stretched this out WAY too long. The Ugly: For 4 million dollars Hakeem left Houston, all that he'd done for the team and community for 4 million. Maybe you all are like 4 million is ALOT of money, but he already HAS ALOT of money. He just got 16 million for last year alone, plus all his other things. Leaving for more money or pride is just ugly.
