I'll be honest, I'm not sure what I'd do if we traded Oswalt today. Besides calling Timmy P fat. That's so fresh.

What if they threw in Jose Reyes. Would any of you make that trade? Just curious.

I'm not sold on this Milledge kid. I'm sorry, for a player of Roy O's caliber, I expect a Felix Hernandez or a Delmon Young *plus* in return.

haha no way reyes gets in the deal, though I'm not sold on reyes yet, he seems to have simiilar stats to Willy T last year, strikes out more than he should, doesn't walk much, the only thing he has over Willy is he is a better base stealer.

Why would Houston even put Oswalts name out in trade talks to begin with?

    ROB NEYER
Why not? It doesn't hurt to talk. And if the Mets were willing to trade Lastings Milledge for Oswalt, the Astros should probably do it. They need hitters, and if the hitter's is cheap and good, all the better.

It was asked in the ESPN Trade Deadline chat. I don't no much about Lastings Millegde. All I know is he is a FIVE TOOL PLAYER. I was suprised by ROB NEYER answer. Is ROY O worth Lastings Milledge?

Ridiculous. It does hurt to talk. You risk pissing off your best player. Lastings Milledge is in no way worth Oswalt. What jackass comments those were.

A potential young superstar is never worth an actual young superstar. And a pitcher is rarely worth an equivalently good hitter. So as a one-for-one deal, this would be absurd unless Roy is asking out behind the scenes.

The only reason Milledge is considered a better prospect than Pence is because he's on a New York team. You can find better OF prospects than him in 3/4 of the farm systems in MLB.

The question should be is Milledge worth Roy O? Quality starting pitching is the most valuable thing in baseball, you don't trade someone like Roy unless he has has explicitly said he was headed out of town and you can get an unbelievable package, and even then Milledge is not even close to enough.

I'm not one to turn into Chicken little whenever a team I like makes a move I don't like, you know the draft VY or else I'm gone types. However I would really have a problem with the Stros trading Roy, not enough to "quit" the team, I am a fan through good and bad, but it might take me a while to get over it.

I'm going to completely ignore my shock about Oswalt and mention two things.

One, I've only seen Bannister throw a couple of times, but he looked good, and his numbers say he pitched pretty well before he got injured this year.

Two, I LOVE Heilman, but ONLY out of the pen. From what I've seen, he picks up those couple extra miles per hour on his fastball when he doesn't have to pace himself, and it really makes all the difference.

All I know about Milledge is hype.

    neyer on espn chat:

Is Omar Minaya willing to part with Lastings Milledge? Both Schmidt and Oswalt are on the table, should he pull the trigger?

    ROB NEYER
I would never say somebody's absolutely untouchable, unless you're talking about Cal Ripken or somebody. But with the Mets having already locked up first place, I don't see any compelling reason to trade Milledge, who's going to be immensely valuable for the next four or five years.
