Ensberg Watch Mo's got two rehab assignments with RR before rejoining the club. In my view, a healthy Mo could provide just as much a jolt to the offense as any bat received in a trade (not to say I don't wanna see trade though). His 1st game was tonight... ...and went 3-3 with 2 doubles, 1 hr, 1 run scored, 4 rbis and 2 walks. Not too shabby for a guy coming off the DL. I'd say it's pretty encouraging.
wow that's pretty good! I for one agree with you about Morgan. Can you imagine this team if he comes back healthy and we make a trade for Tejada (which i think is the best case scenario!) and we trade Preston for bullpen help! This to me is are best possible line (with Tejada) The only reason that Biggio is hitting 7th is because we all no how Garner loves to have a balanced line up. also the reason he is there and i didn't switch Tavers and him is because biggio will have more RBI opportunities in the 7 spot the at the lead off spot and i am sure we can all agree we would rather have biggio up with men on over Tavers CF- Tavers (if he continues to play well) 1B- Lamb SS- Tejada RF- Berkmen 3B- Ensberg LF- Huff 2B- Biggio C- Ausmus Pitcher Spot
3 for 3 with 2 dbls and a HR Could he be the bat we need? Move Huff to the OF with Burke, Berkman and Scott? DD
A healthy Ensberg would be awesome. If we got him back strong and picked up Tejada, I might stop turning off the games when we're tied late or going into extra innings.
Its time to make our run, and MO was a HUGE part of last seasons' success. I dont know about Huff in the outfield though. That would put us at a huge risk defensively. My guess is that they split time at 3B
I'm really not sure what the Astros are going to do with the lineup, and I'll be even more confused if we really do acquire Blalock.
I have full confidence in Mo. He always comes through. I don't want to see him traded unless he wants to go. It's just, what do we do with Huff and Lamb because is Gar is smart, Berkman will not be in OF anymore. He should be back on 1st so we don't end up losing him for the rest of the season.
If he can fake 3-3 performances with HR's and XBH's, I don't care if his shoulder is about to fall off... he should play.
Kind of makes you wonder though where this team would be if he admitted and accepted the fact that his shoulder was too hurt to play in the first place. Guess you shouldn't look back though, only forward.
I hope it is feeling better, but he went into a slump before he hurt it so his health isn't the only concern. It also bothers me that he only needed a couple of weeks off to feel better, why the hell didn't he take the time off back when it happened?
Ensberg seems to have a history of trying to play through pain when he shouldn't be. He took some cortisone shots and thought he could get through it, never giving the team any indication that it was severe enough that he needed to sit.
HOUSTON -- Morgan Ensberg hasn't been on the disabled list very long, so it should come as no surprise that he did quite well the first time he appeared in a live game on Saturday in Round Rock. Ensberg was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run, a walk and four RBIs for Triple-A Round Rock, where he began what will likely be a three-game rehab assignment before rejoining the Astros on Tuesday in San Diego. The third baseman has been on the disabled list since July 10 with a right shoulder contusion he suffered on a diving play in early June. He attempted to play through the pain, unsuccessfully, and finally admitted he had a problem a few weeks ago. As early as five days ago, Ensberg said, he wasn't sure what his immediate future would bring. On Sunday, however, he sounded much more optimistic. "Five days ago, I really didn't know when I'd be able to come back," he said. "All of a sudden, I came back the next morning, and my range of motion, almost immediately overnight, came back. The next day, I almost doubled that. I went from not being able to throw to being able to throw to second base. The next day, I was throwing the ball well across to first. It was a three-day swing." Ensberg drove back to Houston after Saturday's game in Round Rock, and, after participating in Family Day at Minute Maid Park on Sunday morning, he headed back to Round Rock for a night game with the Express. He'll probably play there again on Monday and then fly to San Diego in time for Tuesday's opener in San Diego. Judging from Ensberg's mood on Sunday, it's obvious his DL stint is coming to a close. "The shoulder feels really good," he said. "I was really happy with just seeing the ball. I had been, the past week or so, going into the bullpen and tracking pitches off pitchers [while relievers were warming up]. I think that really helped. The thing that helped the most was the healing of the shoulder. I was able to do things I hadn't been able to do." http://houston.astros.mlb.com/NASAp...t_id=1583664&vkey=news_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou
So Ensberg was 1-5 tonight with an RBI. In two starts he's batting .500. It's so hard to guage where he's at because its such a small sample size, but I'm still cautiously optimistic that he can come back and give this team a boost, regardless of whether a trade gets done or not.
Willy T is twice the defensive CF that Burke is. No offense to Burke, he does well enough, but Willy can cut off balls in the gap than no one else in MLB can.
Burke is just biding his time until Bidge leaves. Stick 'em wherever you can. But Willy has been hot as of late, and Burke not, so you gotta go with what's working.
Yes, we have potential, but that is all we have...We need to click right now or this season is lost...Although, I think it's already lost...
