Ausmous ,one of the best catchers ? Did I hear you correctly ? he has thrown out 10 % of the runners that have stole on him, when the average in the majors is like high 20's low 30's. He has no power and is hitting .242. Do you still think he is one of the best catchers ? Like I said on another post he is only around to bring the girls to the games..he makes Uncle Drayton money that way... :D

I wouldn't mind a call up of J.R. House.....recently called up to AAA, was doing well in Corpus above average #s in obp and slg.....had a VERY brief stint with the Pirates a couple of years ago.

I was reading that the Twins have some young catchers they're trying to get playing time. Joe Maur could be expendable but given their success this season I doubt they're looking to make any changes.

I don't think there is a chance in hell they let go of Maur. The guy is from Minnesota and is an amazing left handed hitting catcher....he's going to be there a long time...Mauer is in no way expendable to them.

Huh? Mauer is most assuredly NOT expendable. He's leading the majors in batting average, and he's a freaking catcher. Plus, he's only 23 and is making just $400,000 this year. If that doesn't scream "keeper", I don't know what does.

Cuz the pitchers like him and know him. Also, if we can get rid of everett....we stick him in the 8 hole and it wouldnt be too too bad

    She says this:

"I don't think his bat is as important as his excellence as a catcher."

    You reply with this:

"He has no power and is hitting .242. Do you still think he is one of the best catchers ?"

Yes, she still thinks he is one of the best CATCHERS. (And he is.)

    Jeesh.

His arm, as you point out, has gotten worse, but there's more to playing catcher than that.

    Can't hit, though.

The problem like some others have said regarding this matter is not the fact that we have one weak bat in the lineup in either Ausmus or Everett....the horrendous problem is we have about 3 weak bats in the lineup and that doesn't help. You can look to any team and they have one player that might be just a bit weaker hitting wise on their team. Usually it is a catcher. But we can't afford to have 1/3 of our lineup just be completly weak like that...we are shooting ourselves in the foot at that point.

If you get Tejada, you eliminate one. If Luke Scott or Burke play in CF, you eliminate another. If Ensberg comes back and is decent, Huff moves to LF and you can even replace Wilson. Then you've got:

    Biggio
    Burke/Scott
    Berkman
    Tejada
    Ensberg
    Huff
    Lamb
    Ausmus

    That's a pretty functional lineup.

So is Dianne Sawyer. When Ausmus' looks reach GMA status... its got to be real.

What is the great Tony Eusebio doing?

he had something like a 25 game hitting streak over 50 played games or something like that.
