Yea, I know - I still don't have the time to post anymore in the evenings (I don't have the time anymore), but things are so slow at work right now that I have been able to get back into posting during the day. It is very scary that I find myself posting more and more in the GARM , but that is what happens when you feel your team has had a crappy off-season so far. As for rockHEAD, I saw a post from him the other day in the "noisy neighbors" thread. And someone asked about bamaslammer, I think I remember reading from him about a month ago how he either changed jobs or he was real sick or something like that. From reading that post, I got the impression he was going to start posting regular again but maybe he is busy with life - who knows?
Oh. My. God. I just spent 3 hours reading that thread, savoring every delicious, gossipy word. That really is a tragedy. Wow. Just.... wow. That thread had everything. Personal insults. Fantastical stories. Deep-seeded resentment. Immaculate conceptions. Even a face-off between MacBeth and Clutch himself! Amazing. I picked a bad month to skip the forum.
Holy crap. That's nucking futs. I never read the whole thing before. I rarely enter the D&D, and when I found that thread through SJC's signature, I didn't feel like reading through the whole thing. Sort of feel sorry for Macbeth though. I didn't know him in the D&D, but I always liked his GARM threads. They were always interesting reads. So what if he told some tall tales on the internet. And who hasn't started a thread and then gave it a 5 star vote. "Let those who have never given a 5 to a thread they started cast the first stone." Err. (m_cable puts his stone down)
I don't think I've ever started a thread in the GARM. Haven't seen BKagy in a while or Keeley since he upped his post count to 6943583495358934589358934583945.
Don't know how I missed it, although maybe it's because I was a new poster here at the time, but that MacBeth stuff was hilarious. How do people ever get the notion that they are that important to other people on a message board on the freaking internet?!?!?! The one and only poster that I would even bat an eye over losing is Clutch, and that's because it would probably mean the site was closing down. That's not to say I don't enjoy people's posts, and I've met a handful in person, but it's a message board of roughly 20,000 users. You could cut the # of active users in half and it'd probably take me a week to even notice. EDIT: This isn't so much a question about what happened to a poster, but who remembers the thread where some girl flew in to some guy's city for an interview and he got her number and they talked for like a month and thought they were in love and all that? Some guy that runs a chocolate business, right? What ever happened to that thread, and the individuals involved? Did it come crashing down as badly as expected?
I TOLD HERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! that was emoreland. classic. I talked to droxford like maybe eight weeks ago. He said I was the first person in five years to know why his username is droxford.
Is it a reference to Dr. Oxford. I saw someone mention that before. Wasn't sure if it was a joke or not.
That thread was a trip. Clutch never did give him a user title, which I was looking forward to. My personal favorite was Terminal Verbosity. MacBeth rode off into the internet sunset, never to be seen again... until the next time. I'm sure the reason SJC hasn't been around much is that he's busy crawling through the internet tubes, searching for Harry Palmer/Jag/MacBeth/???, wherever he's landed. A quick question -- which famous British actor played Harry Palmer in the movies?
Yeah. That's pretty much the way I feel. I've never popped my D&D cherry, so I missed all that stuff. I mainly knew JAG/MacBeth from the GARM (and some from the Hangout), always appreciating his 15,000 word analyses. Ego? Yep. Wordy? Yep. But the guy could write, he could think, and he was entertaining. And not to dig up all that stuff again, but I do feel a little bad for him. His opening post of the thread (okay, 3 threads) was more or less, "Hey everyone.... good to see y'all again" (or something like that), and then the thread somehow snowballed into a butchering of his character (which might or might not be deserved -- not judging). For the record, I don't find most of his tall tales, or some toned-down version of them, that hard to swallow. Many posters on this board have lived interesting, colorful lives. If we had a thread devoted to, "Tell us the most wacky, interesting, even-if-you're-bragging thing about yourself," we'd have 20 pages of juicy content. And his claims weren't all that Bunyan-esque, really. He said he lived with 5 girls (or 6), modeled, dated a p*rn star, and got in a fight with 3 dudes. That's honestly not that big of a deal. True, he had a certain flamboyance in the way he told his stories...but that's just his writing style, love it or hate it. Heh. Not trying to start the "Great Backlash to the MacBeth Backlash" of 2006. (GBMB2K6) Good times.
he wasnt in *that* bad of trouble until the realgm posts were brought up as evidence. then the crapola indeed smattered itself upon the fan blades. Love em or hate em....you gotta respect the attempt to introduce worthy threads in GARM. ontopic.... brightside, moes is in-route back to Cali I believe...rest assured he will return. we aint *that* lucky. safe journey wishes to ma boi
I'm here. I just haven't posted or read as much lately. (especially this week since I've been on vacation)
What a thread. I never would've guessed that SJC was so vicious ... and know that I think about it SJC... I'm still waiting to see any pcitures of you in your round-the-world trip. And is it just my imagination, or did SJC slow down over the last year or so? I miss B-Bob too... d*mn you for leaving us B-Bob!
