In the first incident you have two sides firing at one another...

    second one nobody was killed...

it wasn't like someone bombed the sh*t out of the UN post with precision missiles

Why is this breaking news? It's just business as usual. Now if Israel accidentally hits someone ... THAT's news.

Certainly Hezbollah is wrong for attacking the UN convoy.

Did the UN convoy make 10 calls to Hezbollah asking them to stop?

Did the leader of Hezbollah personally guarantee that the UN would not be attacked?

    Were the UN workers killed?

Hezbollah certainly has no right to attack a convoy, and I believe the convoy should have returned fire.

However the situations are different because of the reasons stated above.

The history of Hezbollah's deliberate attacks on UN peacekeepers is astounding! :D

Hezbollah doesn't want "peacekeepers" in Southern Lebanon after the shooting stops. They are sending a message.

The UN gentleman on the stretcher might have died but for being treated by Israeli docs.

So they got caught in the crossfire? It's not like Hezbollah was targeting them. The context of an ongoing battle indicates it's most likely 'accidental' or -- as Hayes would say -- 'collateral damage'. The UN observers should have made at least six separate calls to Hezbollah fighters to let them know they were 'getting dangerously close'. ;)

How do we know they didn't call? Look, this is Hezbollah's home turf. They've had 6 years to prep the battlefield and they knew where all the UNIFIL guys are.

So have the Israelis, they have been preparing for this exact battle for a few years now (gather intel on Hezbollah's sites, weaponry, etc.)

Anyways, my post was in jest, I don't know if the UN observers were intentionally targeted or not, but given the context (i.e. an ongoing battle between them and IDF soldiers) there is very little reason to believe it was intentional, most likely a 'stray' bullet.

So what I'm getting from scanning the DnD, is that liberals support Hezbollah, and conservatives support Isreal.

    Is this accurate?

If so, why is that the case. I don't see why this issue should fall in line with American political party lines. Can somebody please explain to me why this is the case?

No, I don't think that's accurate or 'is the case', I think that's your personal opinion.

Wrong. RM Tex is a liberal and he unequivocally supports Israel. I am a libpig and I neither support Hezbollah nor view them with prejudices. I seek to understand the situation from a neutral position. IMO, the American politicians, Dem and Repub alike, and the main stream media slant too much in favor of Israel, whose actions so far can be described as disproportional at best, atrocious at worst.

    Understood.

Why do you think Israel is at fault? The degree of their response is too great compared to the original attack?

Looks like a PR stunt...Funny how cameras were there....They're trying to make-up for their deliberate murder of UN workers the other day.

    Nice conspiracy theory

Well first of all there are conflicting reports from both sides on who started this mess. None of these reports has been independently verified.

The "original attack," if I understand correctly, was aimed at Israeli military personnel and equipment by Hezbollah. The counterstrikes conducted by the Israelis, however their apologists try to sugarcoat, were causing a great deal of civilian casualties in Lebanon. I can guarantee you if the IDF put their boots on the ground, even if it means to enter the Lebanese territory, to fight Hezbollah specifically, rather than dropping bombs and firing rockets into residential area and non-combative targets, you won't see nearly as much complaint from neutral bystanders such as me.

For the Israel apologists, don't give me the **** "oh they are hiding behind civilians", it's Israel's job to distinguish between combatants and non-combatants (aka civilians). The Israelis are the aggressors and they need to fight like a man. The vicious attacking on UN post that caused the deaths of 4 UN observers is another testament to Israelis' callous and reckless behaviors, to put it mildly.
