I would rather prefer to get a 4/5 and have Battier get more minutes to back T-Mac at the 3 instead of signing Jumaine Jones but he isn't a bad player.

They arent restricted to one player. They could still trade for a 4

A trade with other players being involved may happen but I feel that the TE is probably our best chance of getting a decent player. I wouldn't be opposed to having Jumaine Jones on the team but I'm hoping for a 4/5 and another shooter. I know realistically the chances of that happening are low. We should get the best player that might become available to improve our depth.

I know what you mean. I think he would come cheap, give us depth and help the team.

Im sure he could be had with the rest of the MLE because he's been sitting out there for a long time. He can hit the open jumper and play some solid defense. Not shut down but disruptive enough in the flow. He has height, he can run, thats a solid role player right there.

I see your point now McGradySNKT. I don't know if we will get someone with the rest of the MLE but I wouldn't be surprised if Jumaine Jones signs with the rest of it. In that case he could be a backup 3 and Battier could get minutes at the 4,3 and maybe even some at the 2.
Jones can shoot fairly well and rebounds well. He works on the defensive end.
In a situation like this the Rockets could still go after a player like Ely with the TE. My preference is Ely and another shooter but getting a player like Eddie House would take away minutes from Head who could really make things easier for us if his shooting became consistent.

Honestly if CD could pull something like that off, this offseason would be pretty good. Not great but it sure would be a big step with snyder jones ely and battier all added ot the mix. Add the 2 new pg's and novak and noone could be too upset with that.

This is the random trade idea thread, so I don't think you need a new thread.

Interesting trade idea though. I don't think I would pull the trigger, but interesting non the less. I don't trust Iverson to stay at the highest level with age as his game relies heavily on quickness and athleticism.

The guy i think we need is...KELVIN CATO! Now wait, before I get crucified, think it through...We've got scoring options, we need a defender who can board and maybe put in the occassional bucket in the paint. If we could get Cato back and rework his contract to a more user friendly fashion, he could be the man! Cato always worked hard, but didnt have the 'full game' - now we dont need him to do it all, just be a role player....and he can add more depth at center...
    This should be our roster:
    C: Ming/Mutumbo
PF: Cato (to defend and board) Novak (when we need to spread the floor)
    SF: Battier/Hayes
SG: TMAC (isnt SG better for his back, than banging down low?)/Snyder/Head
    PG: Alston/VSpan/JL3
I gotta believe we could deal Juwan for Cato...and throw in Bowen

Would the Knicks go for something like this?? Luthur Head for David Lee straight up or a 2008 2nd could be added for New York to do this. I think Lee would be a nice fit next to Yao. He hustles, good rebounder, I think is not a liability on defense and is pretty athletic.

I think rather than creating trade ideas (for Howard) for players we want, we should think of teams in the NBA that could use him and see what we can get in return. For example Atlanta, I think they could use him to work with Sheldon Williams, with Harrington gone, they won't have a stable frontcourt. I'm not sure, but will Atlanta get the 7.something TE from Indiana for Harrington.

You know sometimes i wonder if people actually watch hoops. We talk about floor spacers, who spaced the floor when big dave and duncan were on the court at the same time. I say that because if the rockets had the guts and got Randolph, there would never be a double team on Tracy or Yao. Why? Zach can rebound backside, frontside or side to side. Zach can hit the 15-17fter and not only that, they almost have to double team him on the blks. He is a head case and this yr should be fully over the knee surgery, but if the Rox got him at the 4, i can pencil them in at the finals. Yao,Tracy, and everyone would benefit.

Bob Sura (contract expires in a season or two)
Juwan Howard (nice guy, downward arc of career, can mentor LaM Aldridge)
Deke (maybe they can waive him and we can get him back)

    for

    Zach Randolph
The phone number of Randolph's psychiatrist
The phone number of Randolph's bail bondsman

I'm just playing along. Guts is one thing; would Les want that payroll in two/three/four years?

I would like to propose my first trade here. I tried to start a separate thread but couldn't, so if anyone wants to move this reply, please do.

This is a random trade, but goes in "what-ifs" I guess. I used ESPN's trade machine and came up with this:

Howard, Alston, and Bowen to Milwaukee for Michael Redd.

Surprisingly, the trade worked! So with that trade in mind, the Rockets would look like:

    5 - Yao/Mutombo
    4 - Battier/Hayes/Novak
    3 - TMac/Battier
    2 - Redd/Snyder/Head
    1 - Sura/Spanoulis/JL3/Head

I know that the team's weak spot could be the 1, depending on Sura's health and Spanoulis' progression. JL3 could do the job but his height could be a bit of a liability at times.

However, if Sura is maybe 80% of his old self, and Spanoulis can play somewhat like Barbosa or Devin Harris, I think the team could be absolutely scary.

Thoughts? Just please be merciful :D

not bad, but i don't see milwaukee doing this. they just broke the bank to keep him... and i don't see them letting him go for howard and alston. he's like their team captain and their veteran leader really.

but i like that we would have a dead eye three point shooter on the court.

    PLEASE NOVAK: RAIN THE THREEs

When you propose a trade, for it to be taken a seriously there needs to be some reason the other team would consider it. Why would Milkauke trade its best player for 2 mediocre players (and bad contracts) and a player who's lucky to still be in the league?
