Ya Novak probably projects to the 3 more than the 4 at this point.

The threadstartter is implying, if you think we have our pf situation straight, you must be smoking the "chronic".

When I see Battier manning down the 4 on a nightly basis, and that he's not getting beat up, then I'll gladly say that you were right.

I don't say Juwan Howard is a better anything than Battier. A better shoplifter, maybe, until a jury says otherwise. :)

Basically, we have 3 natural SF's (TMac, Battier, Novak). Novak can play backup minutes at the 3. Meaning TM and SB have to kick in at the 2 and 4, respectively.

well novak has the size to play the 4 as he is 6'10, but he lacks the bulk and strength needed to effectively defend the position. if i was the rockets strength coach id have that kid in the gym every day for a couple of hours whatever it takes to get him stronger. theres no way hell get minutes at SF as we already have mcgrady and battier there so the PF spot is his ticket to playing.

It's called when Mcgrady and Battier Sits the bench... Im sure he won't play 4 more since Hayes and Hayes are there.. But would you rather have Bowen play instead of him? I see Mcgrady next year as a 35 min guy during the season.

I'm willing to bet he doesn't add any significant muscle, will rarely play. Let's not get over our heads here. Don't get me wrong he can shoot, but he simply cannot do anything else on the court, something JVG will kill him for.

Dawson, you are old and r****ded. Scott Brooks joined the Rockets in 1992. Max and Kenny were already there. Max has been with Rockets since 1989 and Kenny since 1990, I believe. Plus, you didn't add anybody, you were an assistant coach. I can't believe how these old farts keep their jobs, let the kid run the show.

Yeah well before I body builded getting kicked in the chest or kneed in the gut or elbowed in the ribs hurt, now it's like nothing, you would have to hit me with a baseball bat for me to even feel it.

So keep on with the BS but I know the truth.

They haven't updated the heights on the player profiles yet, but actually he's 6-9.

    He's 6-8 1/2 barefoot.

The league adds 1 1/4 inches

    and keeps the unrounded height

If you notice NONE of the draftees heights have been updated.

    Not one of them

Close enough, I guess. Novak checked in at 6'8" barefoot at the combine:

Anyone else noticed that some good shooters have short arms? Ray Allen, JJ Redick, Yao(relative to his height) and now Novak.

I think you need less mustard, and more ketchup.

Less mechanical issues with shorter arms and quicker release. Short armed players can get the ball up and in firing position quicker. Kinda like lifting weights. The short armed guys pound for pound can lift more because they don't have to lift as far.

Seems Novak is guarenteed to be a good shooter even in the NBA. :D

I am glad you are a tough guy now - good for you. I am talking about training athletes and improving motor skills to show improvement on the court, not turning guys into meatheads that walk around telling guys to punch them as hard as they can in the gut. I'll leave that to you.

I also worry about these things with Novak - defense and rebounding. I see him in the Matt Bullard role of coming in for about 5-8mins per half to throw some points on the board and get out before his defensive liabilities start to surface. I guess if he ends up being a 3pt stud you could cover some of his defensive liabilities with a zone.

The real question is will he be quick enough to stay with the Flopper nowitzki?
If he is i thimk he will see some time at the 4 this season. 10-12 mins a game.
