I'm looking to buy a laptop, docking station and flatscreen. At least I think I am. I'd like a laptop b/c of the ability to check clutchfans from the throne. But we also want to do some regular home computing: digital photos, some computer gaming, but nothing serious. Currently, I have a crappy HP Pavillion but have a decent printer. Does anyone have any suggestions on make and model, or packages for what I'm looking for? I don't know squat about computers or best way to buy what I need. Thanks for the help.
willing to pay for whatever suits the needs I defined above. I don't buy technology often, so I'm probably willing to spend a little more for quality. I'm assuming this will cost about 2 grand, but have no idea.
I recently got a dell e1505 and i must say that the Dell notebooks are pretty nice in terms of performance/price. You can get a good laptop for about $1200-$1400...you can also get a docking station from dell which is about 100 bucks or so. Check out dell's website, btw, there are also dell coupons at sites such as gottadeal.com.
I got an IBM T30 and a Dell Inspiron 6000 and I prefer the dell anyday over the IBM its got a pretty big screen..its pretty light...and got everything you defined above...you should check it out..you can get new ones off ebay for less than a grand...
HP is the best bang for your buck. Dell is complete s#!t. You'll spend $2000 to get a half decent one. They break down within months(blue screen of death). Gateway is good, but not like HP $ for $. Either way get a 2yr warranty and try to customize it if you can. Ideal specs: Intel Core Duo processor(at least 1.8Ghz or something close) Hard Drive(at least 80GB at 5400rpm) Memory(at least 1GB) Screen(better be widescreen with the glossy finish) DVD+-R/RW burner No more than $1500
If you would like a current list of HP refurbs, email me. I have bought 3 and they are all great laptops. There are also other products in there as well. This list comes out everyday, which means that many ofthe products are sold before it makes it to the website. If for nothing more than to have a starting place. Once you look at what they have you can compare it to other brands. Let me know.
