Yes, it was Weisbrod and the Magic. He did "it" for nearly 32 minutes last year and averaged nearly 12 points and 6.7 rebounds while "do[ing] it." He may not have the "hops" anymore, but he is a smart, solid veteran who shows up every game, plays his hardest, and "do[es] it" consistently. With Yao and TMac healthy, that is all we need and with Yao and TMac's contracts, that is all we can afford.
There is no way we could get Magloire. That's what I (and most sane people) think at least. The Bucks would rather just let his contract expire and take that cap room than take are garbage players with longer contracts. Had we still had Gay perhaps a deal could have been possible.
i dont see why we would acquire Magloire if he is just going a be a one season rental (he is a free agent after next season). true he would be an immediate upgrade over juwan and deke, but giving up head seems like too much
I think a better trade would be to go after Za Za Pachulia he is making 3 million dollars a year and was a good rebounder and as efficent a scorer as Magloire solid on defense although not too good. Looking at the stats below for a player going into his third season in comparison with someone who is going into his seventh I think this is a wash at least. Stats Za Za Year Team GMs MPG FG% FT% 3PT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 05-06 ATL 78 31.4 45.1 73.5 0.0 7.9 1.6 1.1 0.5 11.7 Magloire Year Team GMs MPG FG% FT% 3PT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG 05-06 MIL 82 30.1 46.7 53.5 - 9.5 0.7 0.4 1.0 9.2 Also, with acquiring him we will still have some money left over with the trade exception and may be able to get a 2nd round pick. Not sure Atlanta would do it but the trade exception would be our best chance to get him because they certainly do not want any of our tradeable players. The reason why I think he is available is because Atlanta currently has five big men (including the two they drafted) on their roster, Za Za was solid for them last year but he was not a defensive enforcer. The reason why I think he helps Houston, his rebounding on both ends of the floor especially offensive. His basketball IQ is pretty good and he has solid range on his jumper, he is also good at getting to the free throw line. Not a shot blocker but as a four with Yao and on a good defensive team I think he could really help this team and is affordable enough to not even have to get rid of anyone. Atlanta with the trade exception has options to trade one or two of their athletes and get immediate help in return.
i've been high (whacked out infact) on us chasing Magloire for sometime now I dont agree with those who think he's too slow or whatever for playing alongside Ming (talking to you especially tman0704). I think they would be fearsome together for opposing teams at both ends of the floor. and with Deke aging he can also serve as a 5 when Ming rests.
ZaZa should be a pretty decent player in this league, but I don't think he's what we need. That said Magloire has put up #'s in the West and is a better rebounder/defender.It also appears Jamaal is motivated, driven out there. He is a proven commodity that knows the ropes of the NBA.You can plug him in as your 4 and backup 5 and never worry about him.10 and 10 with an attitude.. I thought he was both lacking in discipline and perhaps talent coming out of Kentucky.Well Magliore has won me over...Bring him on.
I will say this redhova, given ZaZa's production, your proposal would be most efficient....esp. if we just add one guy and keep Howard for now. I really want that full upgrade to Jamaal though. I
