Okay. You think we shouldn't do anything to stem global warming because the earth is destined by God to end and you anticipate and believe in the Rapture. Ergo, you are totally insane. So? That is a sad thing to happen, and I'm sorry it happened to you and yours, but it doesn't explain whatever point you are attempting to make. I would think you would have an interest in attempting to reduce the amount of sea level rise over the next several decades. I've toured the dike system in the Netherlands, one far superior to what "protected" NOLA, for example, and even they are facing a huge threat. You can dislike Gore. and I certainly don't care if you do, because you wouldn't be alone, but what he discusses in his documentary is real, and it's a threat looming over us all. Shoot at the messenger all you like, but don't discard the message. It's happening, and it's happening to us all. The rich will be able to move to wherever they like, and escape the worst of what's happening, if we continue to ignore the warning signs all around us and continue policies like that of the Bush Administration, who is the best friend the rich have had in modern history.. I only brought that up in response to someone elses thread to me. I don't remember as I have been corresponding with 100 different people on here. They were saying something about me being insensitive to those people and I was explaining that I more than understood their plight. I guess no one has even put an ounce of thought into anything I have said or else I wouldn't be receiving the messages I am.
I put in a least half an ounce of thought. Shouldn't some of us receive some credit for attempting to reply to you? If you are real sensitive about "hard knocks" in a forum like this, maybe you should try taking things with a grain of salt. Some of us take these topics pretty seriously. We may not be able to do much about the current incompetent elected government, but we get rid of some of our frustration by posting on those topics here. From your posts, silly. I knew gwayneco was a nutjob right away (I mean, who didn't?). It took a little longer to finger craziness for the cause of giddy and basso's posts. But you were a no-brainer. You think: 1. The world is meant to end because God wants it to. And... 2. The Rapture is coming and you're looking forward to it. As such, you are clearly as crazy as those crazy ass Muslim terrorists who believe that if they blow themselves up they'll wake up with a whole lot of virgins as a reward. Get pills. I didn't attack Bush, I merely said that in my view, the criticisms on Climate Change were warranted. Am I a Conservative when I agree with certain criticisms of Clinton, Carter, Johnson, Kennedy, Truman, Roosevelt, etc.? (Man, I go a way for a meeting and this thread explodes.) Reading some of the other comments, I'm reminded of Faulkner's speech upon accepting the Nobel Prize... an excerpt... I realize Faulkner can't compete with what some people think God says in the bible, but in reading Hakeem Dream's responses, I hope they can make a little difference. Her acceptance and view of the end of the world is one of the most depressing things I've come across recently. Would God be so cruel as to give you the intelligence to see the ruin of the world and yet have you do nothing to prevent it? Is it Christian to sit idly by while the destruction of God's creation is pushed towards finality? One who accepts this view is either incredibly lazy or subject to incredible despair.
I missed this. I'm close-minded because I don't believe as you do that the world will end no matter what and god will take us all away? I'm just showing you the facts, and you prefer to think we're all doomed so the facts don't matter. Who is close-minded again? No -we're NOT intolerant, just accurate. I could care less if you believe in yahweh or the flying spaghetti monster. I'm intolerant of your inability to acknowledge or care about global warming. That's not "bashing", that's caring about the fate of something much bigger and much more important than you or me. Okay, let me get this. You can't really say you know me well in any way based upon my discussion on sports and politics. Unfortunately we delved into religion, which should never have entered the conversation, which I am probably, the one who first said it. It was said to just explain why I think like I do. I in no way think that I am superior in any way to any one. I have studied world religions since I was in middle school and I have been greatly influenced by my findings. Okay, here I really want to tread lightly. About your #1, my beliefs have nothing to do with this. I say that in nature, there are life cycles. Everything lives then dies. I never wanted God to be in this topic. I think that the earth changes and destroys the life forms on it and starts over again. It's a natural progression and it is just life. Okay, your #2, the focus should never have been on my belief in the rapture. That was a little side comment with someone else. I just replied to it and I, like anyone else, am proud of what I believe in so I was a tad boisterous in my response. #2 is moot. As such, you are mistaken in your assessment of me. Hopefully now you can see the source of my frustration.
