Oohh, now you're on a subject I know. I own a 2003 Altima and absolutely love it. I'm 6'4", so the roomy interior of the Altima was a big selling point for me. That 3.5 engine purrs too, and I think the later models have 15-20 extra horsepower than mine has.

I have to agree, you can get a new TSX without NAV @26000+ttl nowadays.

    If it's the non-turbo version, I agree.

    tsx=re-badged accord.

Get an Accord V6 instead if you're going to consider a TSX

I'd look at the Acura more, but don't feel like making the 40 miles trek to the dealership. Plus I wasn't a huge fan of the Accord. And there basically the same (Okay, not really).

I went by to check out the Nissan again...nice and roomy, but with the features I'm interested in (Bose, leather, sunroof, maybe Sirius) it puts it pretty much around the same as the Volvo.

I'm definitely going to use the Nissan as leverage for the Volvo (unless I reconsider the Volvo, which is a distant possibility). I got an e-mail from another guy who works at the Volvo place saying he'd still like to talk to me even though I've "changed price ranges" which isn't true...I just told him what I wanted to pay, hoping, but not expecting to get it that low.

And how could you not go for a car with a big booty?

That booty rocks. I can't stop staring at it.

Re-badged European Accord. The US model Accords don't handle like a TSX does. The TSX is a far more fun car to drive - hell it's a more fun car to drive than the TL.

    Based on CAR AND DRIVER

I always question Volvos dependibilty since Volvo is a European car.TSX is better in every category besides accleraton. Based on this review the TSX is way better and dependable.

Of course. The TSX is a 4 cyl engine. You think a big yacht like the Accord V6 or the TL is going to handle as well as a smaller and lighter car? I'm just stating that you get more for the money with an Accord than you would a TSX.

I drive a Honda btw and nothing would make me happier than to see someone not get a Honda.

I'd be considering a Subaru WRX if that was my price range.

Test drive the new 07 Camry SE v6. That would be my vehicle of choice with a budget of 25k.

Well I went by again and talked with their 'senior associate'.

The offer "before blood starts to drip": $27,417.41 (plus tax, title, and fees)...$28,600

He basically took off $400 from the first offer after I expressed my price range preference.

Haha, hell no. The sticker price is $30......$31,055 w/ tax and fees.

Why in the world are they thinking they can sell it as if it was an '07?!? I asked why other dealerships in markets around the country are selling it for $5000 under MSRP...his response was "it might be that those are loaner cars."

When asked what I thought about it, I said, "how about $26?". Man, the look on his face...haha, wow. "Maybe if you take away some features, but you can't get this model in that price."

It's not like I've set a definite price, but no way I'm paying $27/$28 for it.

So I guess the next step is quoting other Volvo places for $5000 under MSRP...I mean the forums at Edmunds.com had a bunch of people getting those great deals, but that's clearly selling it at a deficit, something I wondered as well.

It's like I'm wasting my time and theirs, but if it hasn't sold in months and no one else is looking at it (he said no one, not even other dealerships in the past couple months), how can you still try to make a profit on it when it won't sell??

Are you going to more than one Volvo dealership? If not, you can't say you should get anything. These cars will sell for different amounts in different parts of the country : some dealerships will have a glut, other dealerships may not be able to keep them on the lot, etc.

I saw your post about not wanting to drive 40 miles to check out a car. That's silly man. You're talking about spending $25-$30k on something you'll be using for several years (I guess) and you won't drive 40 miles? Come on! :) I would drive to San Antonio, Houston, Austin, or even parts of souther Oklahoma if it meant saving nearly $1000 on a car. Do some legwork!!! :D

Go to multiple Volvo dealerships and get prices if you haven't already. If they're all giving you roughly the same price, then that is the price you'll probably have to pay.

actually volvos are inline 5. horses also don't tell everything. that 13 hp difference might not say much but the 70+ ft. lb of torque difference does.

like Dr. of Dunk said, why are you wasting your time at the SAME dealer? by you going there multiple times, they know they got you in their pocket and that you really want that car. just call their bluff and take your business elsewhere. and you have a lot of options besides the s40. Next time if you are ever going back there ask them "why I don't see more s40s on the road. is it because of the price gouging that you guys do?"

I forgot to tell you about the AUDI a3 or a4. The a3 is a hatchback but it has a good price at a base of $24,740. The a4 is a sedan but $4000 more. But if you still want the volvo i agree with every1 else to go visit other dealers. Good Luck!

I've heard nothing but horror stories about the A4's....I think there have even been several threads on this bbs about them.
