[rumor] rolling stones at zilker park in austin

    Rolling Stones headed for Austin

By Joe Gross | Friday, July 21, 2006, 06:27 PM

Word has it that the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band is coming to the world’s live music capital. Look for an announcement next week that the Stones will play Austin’s Zilker Park on Sunday, Oct. 22.

Sounds like a good time to visit Texas.
Isn't the Botanical Garden in Zilker Park?

From what I've heard, young fans outumber the old fans at Stones concerts by a WIDE margin, especially the young hottie chicks.

Since most of the crap that record companies are force feeding America sucks, great bands like The Rolling Stones are more important than ever to remind people that real music did exist at one point. Seriously, how many people are going to be listening to Creed, Staind, and Nickelback 30 years from now?

October is absolutely the most perfect time to have something like this in Austin -- the weather is always perfect and cool during October.

ive never seen them before and the opportunity to see them in zilker is tough to pass up.

It sounds like you'd like to go to both. If you show up for the wedding, what do they have to complain about?

Oh well, If they start to b**** you out, just tell them to get off your cloud, because that they can't always get what they want...

How are they going to sell tickets to a concert at Zilker Park without keeping people from sneaking in??

Yes, it's right next to the Zilker soccer fields which is where bands perform.

    You going Deckard?

I was at one Stones concert a little over 15 years ago in LA...Rose Bowl or Coliseum...can't recall which. Of course our seats were on the wrong end of the stadium.... I would think Zilker would be a much better venue.

Is it true that Keith Richards will play the father of Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates 3?

That would be a great time and place for that show. It should be nice and cool. I guess I won't be playing soccer at Zilker this fall. Between ACL and the Rolling Stones, the grass is going to be trashed for some time.

I'm going to try and make this. The Stones are one of those bands you should see once before you or they die.
