Anyone seen this? I saw the 1st one a while ago. My friend said it was hilarious and its gotten pretty nice reviews.
It was damn good. I'll just repost what I put in the Smith/Siegel thread: Clerks 2 is the first Smith movie I've really enjoyed since Dogma. (And I didn't even like Dogma that much.) If anyone had asked me before hand I would have criticised the overuse of Jay and Silent Bob movies Smith has made over the years. But I had fond memories at least of Clerks so I figured what the hell...I'm glad I did. It's kind of like the stupid humor/jokes of Clerks...combined with a decent, fleshed out story. Maybe a Clerks/Chasing Amy type combination? that's as close as I can describe it.
I'm going to see this later today, then Pirates of the Caribbean tomorrow. I'm watching Clerks for the first time today.
i put this up there with mallrats and jay/silent bob strike back. better than chasing amy, dogma, clerks... i kinda related to jeff anderson's character - slacker, diss' everything, buddy gets married and plans to move away.
Just saw the movie and it was awesome. The dialogs was hillarious. If you like Clerks you will love this movie.
I saw it tonight at the South Lamar Alamo Drafthouse and loved it! Very funny. The coolest part though was the girl I was with knew someone working there. Quentin Tarentino was in the theatre next to ours watching A Scanner Darkly. I was so psyched so after our movie got out I went into the theatre and scoped it out and sure enough, smack dab in the middle was the man himself. The movie was almost over and I felt stupid hanging out at the entrance of the theatre so we just left. It gets even sadder because our movies started about the same time and his was getting out shortly so me and my friend Alicia parked behind the theatre and watchied him come out the back exit. The man has a huge head, and oddly enough he looked more like Norm McDonalds impression of him than him. Can you imagine going to the movies on a Friday night with your girlfriend and Quentin freaking Tarentino sits next to you? Unreal. Most of us know at least one Tarentino monologue. I wonder if he's a Kevin Smith fan, and why couldn't he sit next to me, dammit!
wow, thats all I can say. Being a Kevin Smith fanboy, I would still highly recommend this to anyone, Kevin Smith fan or not. Hell, even my gf didn't really like the first Clerks, said she actually enjoyed it. Caught the 940 show over at Studio 30, and suprisingly it was packed. Its still had its d!ck and fart jokes, but really had a good message. I can see why he got a standing ovation at Cannes, hell even at the theater, there were a few applauses after the movie ended. I laughed probably the hardesnt in my life when Elias, LOTR Fanboy, and Randall had the whole LOTR/Star Wars arguement. I would highly recommend it and hopefully it'll make some decent earnings at the box office, cause Kevin really does deserve it.
Saw it last nite really enjoyed it! Very funny, dialogue driven but never feels slow even though very little happens.
I haven't seen the first one and might rent it. I just want to see if his "Goodbye Horses" impression of Buffalo Bill is better than the one I do for my coworkers.
"1 ring to rule them all!" that dude made the movie... but randal's retelling of the LOTR trilogy and the subsequent puking was hilarious.... that and jay dancing like buffalo bill.
my buddy got the chance to meet williams at a restaurant in l.a. said he was cool as hell and was willing to talk to him for like 10 minutes so i am all for him having sucess, most hollywood people develop an ego after bein sucsessfull. i will definately see the movie.
I liked it. But I really didn't care for the "message"...I mean it was nice and sweet, but, ehh, I was just expecting something a little more silly and over-the-top (well, Snakes on a Plane will no doubt satisfy that craving next month!). Could've done without the go-kart scene and the young girl-in-window scene as well...plus the sappy music. I mean still a very good film and it's worth seeing if you liked the first one. While it might not seem like a date movie, man...if you bring a girl and she enjoys the silliness, absurdity, and language, don't let her go. Basically my only "complaint" is that it felt like a chick flick.
