    Cy Fair is the 3rd largest school district in the state? :eek: They will have 10 5A high schools when the two now under construction are finished in a couple of years. Where the heck did all that growth come from? I hear they are building a new master planned community called Bridgeland that will have 65,000 people when it's finished. Wow, I had no idea that part of Houston had grown like that.

    1. Houston ISD -----> 211,157
    2. Dallas ISD ----->160,000
    3. Cypress-Fairbanks ISD (Houston Area) ----->86,420
    4. Austin ISD ----->81,225
    5. Ft. Worth ISD -----> 80,736
    6. Northside ISD (San Antonio Area)-----> 78,104
    7. Fort Bend ISD (Houston Area) ----->66,353
    8. Arlington ISD ----->63,976
    9. El Paso ISD ----->63,870
    10. North East ISD -----> 59,369

    It doesn't surprise me.

    Back in the day, when I went to school in that school district, it was the fifth behind the four major metropolitan ISDs.

    Back in the day means like five years ago, as in the late 90s, early 2000s.

    I don't remember the source, but it said that the Cy-Fair district was the second fastest growing school district/system in the Country.

    High School was sooo ****ing crowded. We jammed 3,000+ in my school. I think they only opened two high schools during my four years there, Cy Springs, and Cy Ridge.

    There are opening up another one soon. Woo... I guess, too little too late.

    If you take a look at the North West area, it used to be more farm land, but now, its development up the ass. I remember reading something in 2000 saying that in the 90's, only 40% of the land in the Cy-Fair area was developed. As of right now, only 60% has been developed.

    There is still time to grow. Maybe the UIL should give us two districts instead of 10 teams in 17-5A.

    Man, i was taking a look at the High School Schedule for Cy-Fair and 17-5A.

    The UIL took out Magonlia and Tomball, and placed in Strake Jesuit.

    That's just freaking awesome.

    edit.

    damnit, cy-ridge opened after i left high school.
    it didn't help me out one bit.

    Had my sister not already graduated this past may, (in the nice-ass new arena they just built) my sister would be within walking distance of both Cy-Fair and the new HS, Cypress Station, IIRC... It's quite ridiculous.

    In fact, now that all that crap is going up next to the new HS (AND new elementary school AND junior high on the same grounds), my parents house is within walking distance of anything I could possibly need. When we moved out to Cypress 10 years ago, we had to drive at least 15 minutes to get anything anywhere, and now I could walk to Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot, and Cinemark if I REALLY wanted to, but I'm lazy, and I've got a car....

    Cy-Fair is projected to pass up Dallas ISD within 5 years

    I lived about a mile from where they built that new stadium and arena. Its quite a site to behold. Its the most expensive high school complex ever built, and I believe the arena is the largest (seating wise) in the country.

    That whole Barker Cypress area is crazy, which is why I moved out to the country. Barker Cypress and 290 is like Westheimer and 610.

    in reality... as long as they combine it on the same bond as new schools.. people are going to likely vote yes to new schools.... we could have gotten a retractable roof one approved:)

    Don't worry though... this graph should convince you that it is a money saver (despite the cost of people to run the place and all..) http://www.cfisd.net/bond/esc_grad.htm

    JV managed to escape without a Cy name... I think the newest one approved it Cy-Ranch.. pretty soon they might run out of names to use.

    That is true... and langham creek was much better than cy-creek in the days of the late 90s to early 2000s in football... probably has reversed now..

    Just graduated from Cy-Fair. Thank god, I got out while I could. We had ****ing over 4000 students, it was hell to get from one class to the other. And that basketball arena is real nice, had my graduation in it.

    i actually used to work for Richard Berry, who is the former SUP of CFISD ....anyway, ran into him 2 years ago and brought up this point, jokingly

    his response:

    Cy Ridge (which I think has already been used)
    Cy Fields
    Cy Lakes
    Cy Prairie
    and of course ....Cy Sperling
