Head is one of my favorite players but I wouldn't mind trading him if it makes the team better because with Snyder, Kill Bill, and the possibility of Sura coming back it makes the backcourt a bit too crowded.
Giving or receiving? As for Head the player. I'm generally positive about him. He's a good athelete with potentially explosive offense. He is inconsitent but that is to be expected of a rookie. I think he has a lot of great potential.
this thread is hilarious. shoulda quoted "do you still like luther". but yes, LUTHER head is great, and I see him as a backup 2 for snyder, if not, a starter. Possibly a rotation between head, snyder and now sura with his possible comeback, those 3 can rotate on who they better match up on. luther for the shorter quicker 2 guards, and snyder on the bigger gritty 2 guards. and who the heck doesn't like head?
Rashard Lewis does not have a great trade value in this league. The beat writers in Seattle were always thinking of ways to move him when Radman was a Sonic, because he brings very little to the table besides outside shooting. Offensively he is nothing more than a jump shooter who can create for himself sporadically. He plays on a high posession Seattle team for 40 minutes and averages 20 ppg camping on the perimter, working his mid range game with the spacing Seattle's offense gives him. Defensively he uses his length to contest shots, and is an average man on man defender. Opponents shot just under 55% against him last year, although Seattle has no concept of team defense, defensive rotations, etc. so I doubt he was willing to put forth the effort. Again, I don't think Lewis would be a great fit on this team because it would mean moving McGrady to the 2, where he under-performs. But he's a very attainable asset, Marion for Lewis was a fabrication.
Did you watch any games in the '05-'06 season? He did plenty. He had less than 1.5 TO per game last year, less than: Kobe Bryant , LAL Kirk Hinrich , CHI Steve Nash , PHX Dwyane Wade , MIA Bobby Jackson , MEM Gilbert Arenas , WAS T.J. Ford , MIL Andre Miller , DEN Mike Bibby , SAC Tony Parker , SAS Bonzi Wells , SAC Ben Gordon , CHI Shaun Livingston , LAC Manu Ginobili , SAS Anthony Johnson , IND Boris Diaw , PHX Larry Hughes , CLE Vince Carter , NJN Sam Cassell , LAC Jason Kidd , NJN Mike Miller , MEM Cuttino Mobley , LAC Michael Redd , MIL Jerry Stackhouse , DAL Richard Hamilton , DET Jason Terry , DAL Smush Parker , LAL Antonio Daniels , WAS Jason Williams , MIA Chauncey Billups , DET Corey Maggette , LAC Not a bad list of guards, and Head averaged less turnovers than any of those guys. EDIT: That list was from the postseason. During the regular season, Head ranked at #78 in TO per game. http://www.nba.com/statistics/playe...itType=9&yearsExp=-1&splitDD=&pager.offset=50 As far as playmaking, he needs to be a finisher, not a playmaker. As long as he can camp at the arc and knock down the open threes created by TMac and Yao, he will be doing his job. He plays the passing lanes well and averaged more than a steal per game, coming in at number 38 among guards in that category. I will grant you that he is undersized against guys like Kobe, Ginobili, and Wade, but he is a backup 2. He will get very few minutes against those guys, those guys are why we picked up Snyder and Battier. Again, not his job. It is up to TMac and Yao to create open opportunities for guys like Head, Battier, Alston, Snyder, and Howard. They were put into the unenviable position of having to take those roles due to the injuries to TMac and Yao, but they are role players. Head's role is not creating his own shot, it is taking advantage of defenses cheating off of TMac and Yao. Again, did you watch any of the games last year? Head was extremely explosive both in the half and the open court. He slashed to the basket well off the pick and was able to finish once he got there. In the open court, he was a blur and was the finisher on at least 25% of the (admittedly limited) fast breaks we had last year. His salary is 1.05 million this year, making his salary more filler than anything else. For his salary, he needs to be kept here where he can be a productive contributor. I hope to God that Morey knows his cost/benefit ratios better than you.
Off-topic a little, but can we PLEASE have the prince song "Head" played at TC when Luther scores. You don't even need to play a clip with lyrics.
