I hope not. He probably improved on his 3's and is a solid contributor. Good player to look forward to for years to come.
I think Head will be traded. He and V-Span our similar type of players. He is also one of the few Rockets willing to trade with some value around the league. I still think Van Gundy wants a tough, block shooting power forward/center.
The big IF is his Euro game translating to the NBA. But I've watched at least one full game of Spanoulis playing myself (in a game where they were playing against Treviso, featuring Bargnani -- and Spanoulis was clearly the best player on the court in that game), and besides, he has his own share of accolades too. All European first team (or whatever it's called), I think he won MVP once, etc. Some will argue that the Euro leagues are tougher than college. All that is beside the point though. What I was saying was his handle is already at least as good as Luther's, if not better; he is a better passer and a better paint penetrator. He is bigger and stronger. In fact, Head has just two advantages over him right now: arguably 3 point shooting and NBA experience. That's why I said, if he starts to contribute valuable minutes early, Head should start worrying about his minutes. That said, I have a personal liking for Luther myself and I've always looked forward to him becoming a very valuable rotation player for Houston...so this isn't about me wanting to throw him under the bus prematurely or anything. Ultimately Spanoulis still has to earn his playing time on the floor with JVG anyways.
THANK YOU! I love how now Euro's are considered Seasoned while College stars are seen was just pathetic wastes or something the lack of respect for American College Basketball is reaching epic proportions . .. but the Euro's have all tha 'p' and we in love with Euro ball now . . . That being said. . . . I am getting a feeling that they will be moving Luther [I don't know why but . . ] Rocket River
I'm finding myself agreeing with all of your posts in the GARM of late. Probably because it's getting harder and harder to find anyone with a dose of reality in here. "LMAO" at the notion that some of you have of V-Span. This board has already anointed him the next Ginobili whereas I would bet a week's salary that blisters will set in with as much as he'll be riding the pine this year. You would think JL3 was the second coming of Tiny Archibald by digging through this forum. He will see minutes strictly because of the front office's inability to acquire any semblance of a point guard. Head might very well be gone, but it won't be because these other guys are better than him. And Head himself is mediocre at best.
I don't think he's gone. He's gonna be the backup 2 for Snyder if Bobby isn't playing. Yeah he's short but now that he should be over his rookie wall, he should be nailing those jump shots and providing an offense off the bench. I coulda sworn JVG just loving the kid's hustle. Why would we ship off one of our "JVG" type players? If we do trade Juwan away...I really hope Head isn't part of the deal.
If you were a rockets fan with half a brain you would see that all signs are telling you battier will start at the 4 Tracy at the 3 and Synder and Head will get equal mins at the 2 most likely.
Oh well excuse me but i thought 6 players on your roster under 24 is pretty good but i guess if you say so then it has to be true do you understand what your saying your saying a team with Tmac, Yao, Battier, Synder, and Head has no talent. HMMM. i think that says a little something about you.
Here is why I am convinced that is true. Kirk Snyder, when he was signed, CD mentioned that the starting job was his to lose because there is not much competition at the 2 spot. So what does that tell us. that tells us that Mcgrady absolutely will not be starting at the 2. So Mcgrady's at the 3 and the 2 spot is Snyders to take according to CD. Now common sense has to tell us that Battier is not coming off the bench to back up Mcgrady because that would make the trade a lot less valuable than it already seems to most so I think we can forget that scenario which leaves us with only one option for Battier and that is having him as our starting PF. So we have Alston/Snyder Spanoulis/Head/Sura to hold things down in the backourt. If we are certain of Sura's full recovery and have enough faith in Spanoulis providing immediate positve productivity to our team this year then yeah Head becomes expendable. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing Head and Howard traded for Magloire. The Rockets get their 3/4 big man with some size and toughness and rebounding.
I think V-Span and JLIII are going to get every opportunity in the next couple of years to be the 1st and 2nd options at the point guard spot. Even if Sura comes back (which I hope he does), his days are limited. Snyder IMO is the starting 2 guard unless he screws up. Luther is extreamly valuable as the back up 2 and also as someone that can slide over to the 1. Sura is in his last year and IMO the odd man out will eventually be Alston.
If you were a rockets fan with 1/4 the brain you would realize that T-Mac and Shane would be starting at 2 and 3 with Shane matched up with the better opponent and the dreaded Juwan Howard at the 4. Head would come off playing backup point while Snyder subs Battier. T-Mac would then assume a point forward role. Battier would play the 4 if the opponent decides to go with small ball. JL3 would be getting around 8-10 min and would see more only if someone's injured in the backcourt. So our rotation goes like this: Alston/Head/JL3/Span T-Mac/Snyder/Head/Span Battier/T-Mac/Snyder Howard/Novak Yao/Mutombo We're gonna have a nine man rotation. Positions are interchangeable over the course of a game, so T-Mac and Snyder might see some "3" minutes. But as far as I'm concerned, it's not a 2 and a 3 but two swingmen. So with different matchups come different line-ups. But should JL3 and Head start to mess up, then and only then will Span come off the bench.
Any alleged Rockets fan who forgets about Chuck Hayes should not be accusing others for not having brains.
Weren't there rumored to be 5-6 teams wanting to sign JL3? He did okay here last year; most were chagrined when he was jettisoned in favor of Brunson (?). In fact, we still don't have him locked up... It cannot be said that V-Span is a project; he may be an unknown, but don't forget that the Rockets have scouts who have seen him many times. It is only we here on CF.net who have been restricted to YouTube highlights. I"ve love to get Sura back for one more year. He was my favorite Rocket year before last. The guy plays hard with heart. Don't know if he can come back though. I'd like to keep head, but as long as we don't cast him off for some used up veteran, I'm okay with it. I like the Howard/Head deal for Mihm/Walton. Bill would love for his boy to be playing with Yao; he'd even give up LA for that. Don't know how young Walton feels about it, though.
Seriously...have you considered posting a reply without being an ass? I only surf ClutchFans ~15-20 minutes a day to skim over new posts, but your inane, provocative attitude has begun to stick out like a sore thumb. How the hell did you ever rise above "rookie" status?
I haven't forgotten about him but the guy's a 6-6 PF. He does have a lot of heart and brings hustle and enthusiasm to the position but he clearly does not make them competative with their opponents in the West. Same for JH who will be your starting PF at 6-9 and rapidly aging as we speak. As things now stand, they must have the weakest front line in their division and quite possibly the entire Western Conference.
anyone watch the games at fonde this year? luther is there maybe you can share how is hes playing i got this small tidbit from http://www.houstonprocity.com/main.html Game 2: Team Casey ended a 9 game losing streak by defeating The Hustlers 79-74.
