i'm actually looking forward to this one. if it lives up to the more serious and dark tone, and doesn't skimp out on severed appendages and such, looks like it's gonna kick ass.
Wow..... thats all I have to say, I haven't caught up with the new school TMNT, but damn I was hard core with the old school late 80's/90's cartoons.
Some more info from Comic Con via aintitcoolnews.com: http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=23927 There are a couple of pics of the different movie posters in the link (4 posters, one with each turtle).
I remember the John Woo rumor where he wanted to make a gritty live action version based on the original comics. I was such a huge fan as a kid and as a child of the 80s and 90s, I don't want to disrespect the old show. I can't help it, I usually wake up at 8:00 am on saturdays no matter how tired or hungover I am and the only thing I can watch at that time is saturday morning cartoons. Anyways, when I first saw this new cartoon I thought to myself "kids today don't know what they missed out on and have to watch this new bs" but from the few eps I've seen, it's not a bad show and has some really good action for a kids show. There was even one ep where Leonardo sliced Shredder's head off (wiki it). Anyways, being the wiki nerd that I am, I came to find out this new show borrows way more from the comics than the original show. Anyways, I don't know if I care to watch this cg flick, maybe I'll netflix the dvd. BTW, maybe my memory is fuzzy, but does anybody remember how the original show was on channel 20 here and it came on after school but a few years later, it started coming on CBS on saturday mornings and the style of the show kind of changed? I always liked the look of the show more when it was on CBS. Is the old show out on DVD yet?
Are you referring to the episodes where they fight aliens and hang out with a guy that turns into a dragon? I had already stopped watching at that point, but CBS had carried the original format shows since at least 1990. I'm not sure on the specific legalities, but Disney had a similar thing going with a couple of their Disney Afternoon shows (Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop). They would air regular episodes in syndication and stuff with noticably better animation would get the Saturday morning network spot. And the old TMNT is on DVD. At a great bargain too, after volume one (which only contains the first five episodes), each disc has 13 episodes for $10 a pop. They're up to volume 4 now.
What about in the UK? Don't tell me this thing is gonna be Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles again. Possible plot summary (from imdb.com): Strange events are occurring in New York City, and the Turtles are needed more than ever, but Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo have become lost and direction less. With the city at stake, it's up to Leonardo and Zen Master Splinter to restore unity and ninja discipline to the Turtles
omg i remember watching a few shows of that. quite strange. <darthvader>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!</darthvader>
Yeah, I actually like the new cartoon. It's got a more serious feel to it than the original did but still has some silly moments. When it moved to CBS one thing I noticed was Michalangelo didn't have nunchucks anymore and the episodes got a little too corny.
just got back from a 12:01 showing.... wow great computer animation, pretty cool story line, and the voices were good considering they weren't huge names as seen in most animated movies these days.
But still... no Rob Van Winkle? <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GFLGRidfFo4"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GFLGRidfFo4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
