Just like last offseason when Dallas lost Michael Finley and we got Swift/Anderson. Everybody thought we were immediate contenders and Dallas wouldn't be as good. Needless to say, quite the opposite happened. Maybe it happens again?

Troll. With a healthy TMac and the new improved Yao Ming, there is just no conceivable outcome that has the Rockets missing the playoffs. Few teams can matchup with us with TMac and nobody can match up with us inside. Defensively, we'll continue to be a top 3 team as we have been the last 2-3 seasons ...and now we're more athletic. Somebody that projects us in the bottom 3rd of the league completely misinterpreted what happened to this team last season. EDIT: Ok, you may not be a troll but I don't understand how a Rocket fan can say we'll miss the playoffs at this point.

I read it again ...he doesn't sound like he is being sarcastic. Last year we should have been ranked top 5. Injuries is the only thing that killed us. I don't mind if the national media has us as underdogs ...but fans on this site should know that if Yao or TMac have an MVP type season, we'll be contenders. If they both are healthy and simply match their career averages, we should be in the thick of the playoff hunt at worst. I don't think I'm being a homer making that statement.

After all, most offseason rankings had Rockets in the top 5 last year. They were completely wrong last year, and will be completely wrong again.

They've really gotta be kidding ranking us 19th overall. Its just going to make it that much sweeter when they are forced to eat their words. We easily will make the 2nd round and have a good shot at winning it all. I really like the new blood we're adding and I think that although we'll need a few months to gel we will come on like gangbusters in the second half of the season.
