he probably does now a little or decent.... all european schools require you to learn two languages during high school, I had english and german, some people have english and french...it all depends what country it is...
The article mentions 3 years @ 6 million from the Rockets. Wonder which version is correct - 4.5 or 6 million. alos, I haven't seen or read if he speaks any English. If he doesn't that could put him back. It is common for Europeans to speak English as a second but I just haven't seen it confirmed anywhere.
Article Translated; The meeting with Panathaikos officials and Kill Bill transpired as scheduled and now the decision lies plainly with Vspan. It was not discussed what he will make if he takes the plane to Houston and wears the Rocket uniform but they have been calling for 3 days straight and believed to be offering 6 million US dollars for 3 years. The climate of the meeting was very good however there was no talk about renegotiating Vspan’s contract as Panathaikos officials want Kill Bill to make his decision first whether he wants to go to the USA or remain with the Greek Champions. It is reported Vspan will make his decision Wednesday afternoon although the Rockets have said they will wait indefinitely. (this could be will not wait indefinitely). Vspan is a bit overwhelmed by the decision as he must choose between the high expectations for him in Greece to his lifetime dream to play in the NBA. It should also be noted that his teammates are encouraging Kill Bill to follow his dream and the challenge of the NBA. Kill Bill places first the opinion of Antonio Fotsoi who only knows to well the life of the Magic Mushroom World (NBA) but also knows the importance of fighting and leading your team in the quest for the World championships.
The chances are good. His teammates are telling him to go. Panathanaikos has not offered him a new deal. It's his lifelong dream. Come on Bill, give in to the pressure. Houston is waiting for you.
Now with Banks gone to Phoenix the number 2 point guard spot looks about as wide open as it can on this team. He will have to compete with JL3 and Sura's injuries for playing time, not too impossible of an assignment to get minutes.
he dont even have to have that kind of season for the rockets to be successfull. as long as he can handle the ball and attack the goal we'll be fine. tony parker cant shoot and i know he should start over alston, but i dont know about JL3. I also feel that chuck hayes should also be starting a power forward with shane at small forward and tmac at the two. JL3 can penetrate, shoot, and dish so if his defense is decent he should be starting. i honestly think this will get us out of the first round.
I was about to order his Panathinaikos Jersey freakin 120 dollars almost I'll just wait until he signs....then think about it
When will we know? Isn't Greece EST +7h? I want to know now! Rafer/V-Span/JLIII Snyder/Head/T-Mac T-Mac/Novak/Battier Battier/Hayes/J-Ho Yao/Deke
Euro teams don't have the money to compete. Those huge contract buyouts aren't an indication of what they're paid there, they're just following the idea in soccer where they try to make a profit/get compensated from transfers.
In the longterm, yes if you're a half-way decent player. Euro teams can't handle giving out $20 million or so that even an above average player could get in the NBA. But in the short-term, the contract that the rockets are offering probably isn't that much better than V-span's european salary (once you factor in taxes). Still, the smart move is to take the nba contract and get your foot in the door in order to set up your next deal. Let's hope KillBill sees it that way.
http://chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/4057635.html The Rockets reached agreement with guard Vassillis Spanoulis on a three-year contract worth more than $5 million, the largest initial contract they had ever offered a second-round pick. Spanoulis told Athens newspaper Eleftheros Typos that he would officially accept the contract offer sometime today or tomorrow Houston time. The Rockets acquired the rights to Spanoulis in an exchange of second-round picks during the 2004 Draft. He played well enough for Maroussi Honda to move to Greek league power Panathanaikos last season and helped lead that team to the Greek league championship. A member of the Greek Olympic team in 2004 Spanoulis, a 6-3 1/2-inch combination guard, is training with the Greek team for the World Championships and will not be in Houston until September
