    serious thread.

i usually use mitchem (so effective you can skip a day) or speedstick. i've been using them forever, but now more than ever i notice that i have noticed flakes of skin falling off and the flakes keep getting bigger.

i'm a sweater, so i don't know if i have sensitive pits or what, but the skin keeps peeling and after a shower i put on deodorant and i notice a slight burn. the part where the dead skin hasn't fallen off... well... it feels like plastic and the skin color is noticably darker.

it's embarassing having to look around the office to see if anyone is watching before i scratch underneath my arms.

so... the question is... have any of you had this problem? any deodorant that you can recommend? non-scented women's deodorant (hopefully you don't suggest this, but if it works... ) i don't want to walk around onions, but at the same time i don't want armpit cancer.

I'd like to know...I'm not sure what the cause is or what the answer is... I have had that happen to me at times...I use speedstick because its one of the few that doesn't have aluminum, which give you stained pits...

2 things... 1 is that it could be that you're allergic to something. Maybe not so allergic that you break out right away...but allergic slightly, so over time your body gets pissed. Small rash (which could cause burning due to exposed skin) or something like that.

Other is what you said..just sensitive skin. Someone recommended a sensitive skin deodrant just a couple of days ago..don't remember who or what, sorry.

I'd switch to a different stick and see if that helps.

Stop putting it directly on your armpit and see if the condition improves. If not, call a doctor.

Mitchium makes my pits burn too. I had to give it up. I use Old Spice Red Zone now. It is AWESOME.

Try one that doesn't have alcohol in it.

Let them rest. Find periods where you don't use deoderant at all. Take a shower at night and scrub to get off all the deoderant and don't put on any until morning. and/or find times on the weekend.

I pretty much can not use roll on deoderant because it gives me a rash. Spray on is all I will use, give that a try.

I use Mitchem, no problems here. The warning on the back of the stick says not to apply to broken skin. Using on skin that has been broken could have compounded problems. Also, it says to stop using if irritation occurs.

You might want to consult a dermatologist.

I use to use mitchum, but as I live abroad I had to find other alternatives (you can only pack so much for the return trip)

I'm not sure if they offer this in the states, but it's pretty good imo. perhaps you should go for the anti-perspirant - works well

Nivea, btw, if you can't read the label

Mitchum was the best thing I've ever used. Used to keep my dry and was buffed so my clothes won't stain!

But they discontinued the scent that I use and it only comes unscented. I moved onto BRUT. It gets the job done, but I still miss Mitchum.

Old Spice Red Zone, Fresh Scent. This stuff kicks ass. I used to use Mitchum but I'll never leave the red zone now.

Actually, this is a very good suggestion. I had a similar reaction when I switched from original Degree (which was discontinued) to the "invisible stick" Degree. So I used nothing for about 72 hours (not at work, thank God) and tried again. No problems since.

Also, it may just be due to dry skin. Try applying lotion (I know, it's unpleasant) every night before you go to bed. That may help.

So take some time off, take care of your skin, and then try the Mitchum again. If it's still a no-go, I do recommend Degree.

I know what you're talkin about, I had it too. Just switch deodarants and start using the air spray ones. That worked for me and the flaking has gone away.
