I recently have moved up to Dallas for my coming college year and I am dying to get an astros game. I looked into getting the games streamed over the internet and it says that my zip code in dallas is blacked out. Is this some kind of joke? Do they expect me to drive to the games instead?! My question is this : Can I just put in a fake zip code and still get it streamed over the internet? How can they really check up on this? Has anyone ever tried this?
You have to use a proxy server. Google it. They're using IP addresses to determine if you're in the blackout area. Dallas being blacked out for Houston teams is freaking ridiculous.
if you get dish network (cheaper than cable), then you can get the games for about $5 more a month. but if your dorming, then you can try "hide IP" or http://anonymouse.org/anonwww.html to view the games online.
I ordered the season package and I can't get the astros games. None of the proxies I have tried have worked... can anyone help?!?!
I can access the mlb.tv site pretty easily but the link to the games isnt a normal web address. I dont know how to make this work.
Do you have DirecTV?!? Astros games that are on FSSW are broadcast on FSNH (Fox Sports Net - Houston). If you're in Dallas proper, you might be in the blackout zone because of your proximity to the Ballpark in Arlington. I had MLB TV last year to watch the Astros, but since I live 30 miles east of Dallas, my zip code is not blacked out. There's a list of black out zipcodes for each team: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/components/video/tv_2003/zip_hou.html Check to see if your zip code is in this list, if so, you can't get the Astros games. Try and switch to the zip code I'm e-mailing you.
I have Dish network as well and I get every Astros game without having the MLB Package. I live 1 1/2 from Houston but we are considered the Dallas Market so The Rangers get first dibs on FSSW but if they are playing they always show the Astros on an Alternative Channel...
get mlb.tv and use a proxy server. go to www.publicproxyservers.com and pick an anonymous server that works (sometimes none of them work) Anyway, pop that into internet explorer and then run mlb.tv and click on the game and login. Once you login and the window opens with the video screen, go and turn off the proxy server. Also, you can go to www.streamtvnow.com and sign up for their stuff (3 euros a month and they usually stream astros games)
