http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/41581/20060719/banks_agrees_to_terms_with_phoenix/ Banks apparently is going to the Phoenix Suns. Yet another option wiped off the board for the Rockets, although after the Snyder acquisition and with the rumors of JL3 and Spanoulis floating around, I have lost some interest in Banks anyway. Either way, get ready to see him put up 15/4/6 next season on career high shooting %'s. You know it's going to happen, admit it.
It's true, he's signing with the Suns. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/articles/0719suns0719.html
i thought banks was all we had left after james bolted but i too lost interest in him with all the jl3 and spanoulis talk. banks has shown nba ability but i'm willing to take my chances that one of these two guys will prove to be at least as good as banks. either way i don't really care that we didn't get him.
Banks asking price is probably too high that it will eat most of the MLE causing the Rockets to back out. I think JL3 and VSpan would fair well. Besides signing these two would leave the Rockets enough MLE money left to sign a backup PF.
Banks to sign with Suns for 5 years, $21 million Paul Coro The Arizona Republic Jul. 19, 2006 12:00 AM Marcus Banks and his family threw a surprise birthday party for his mother Saturday under the guise that she had to attend a meeting with a prospective NBA team. He topped that surprise this week when the Las Vegas native firmed up plans to play closer to home with the Suns. Banks, who arrived in the Valley on Tuesday night, came to terms with the Suns on a five-year contract worth about $21 million. The deal could be official as soon as Thursday. "We're honored to be with the Suns and a hop, skip and a jump away," his father, Arthur, said. "We really feel like it's an ideal fit with the Suns' style. Marcus is so ecstatic about it."
I'm thinking ORL's Keyon Dooling might be a target: http://www.82games.com/0506/05ORL3D.HTM http://www.82games.com/0506/0506ORLP.HTM Seems like a Morey type of guy, judging by his 2005-2006 performance. Should be fairly easy to get for part of the TPE if they wish since ORL already has Nelson and Arroyo manning the point/
With VSpan signed and JL3 on the brink, we're done with PGs. I'm excited. We've got good versatility at the position now. Dead-eye shooter in JL3. Penetrator/slasher in VSpan. Passing and handling in Rafer. Unfortunately, I don't think any of them will be a lockdown defender. Oh well. I'll take it. We're may be set for years.
