Although Yao is my man, and since Amare is his rival, I usually cheer against Amare, it would suck for Amare to not be as good as he used to. I hated him for being so good, but I will definitely miss it..just like how Shaq isn't quite the same.

I'm liking the new Yao though.

I think Amare is not playing with his full agressiveness to avoid another injury. It's just summer league! This guy got injured on the 1st game he came back last season. That must have made him to be more careful.

Much as I hate Amare for his idiotic cockiness, I hope he comes back 100%...

So that Yao can dominate and embarrass him again and again.... :D

The thing is microfracture surgery takes two years to recover from and, no player in the NBA has ever fully recovered from it. And the thing that's crazy about his injury is that a week or so before he signed his extension I read an article on Real GM saying the Suns should think twice abou giving Amare that big contract because of what happened with Antonio McDyess and then a week later Amare ends up needing the exact same surgery that ruined McDyess' career

I think that the thing to worry about for Pheonix fans is the fact that this guy has a Max contract that will be kicking in this year and is for 5 years plus Nash is gonna be 33 next year, has a bad back and, also has a max contract that runs through 2010(last year is a team option though).

With the rumors going around that the new Pheonix owner will do what ever it takes to avoid the luxury tax it seems like they only have a two year window to win the title before they go through a 2-3 year span of cap space hell.

I worry that this same sort of thing may happen to Lebron. Guys that size with explosive athletic ability, who have very great leaping ability and utilize it frequently seem to have these type of injuries earlier in their career. Hopefully Lebron is immune.

Zach Randolph had it prior to last season I believe, he's still the fat, greedy, grubby, and chubby 20/10 player know. I do believe there is success, it just depends on how patient you are, how much pressure you put it on, and how much you exercise it regularly to keep it's health pace high.

Jason Kidd has recovered from it nicely. Too bad he's old.

Jason Kidd did not rely on sheer athleticism to dominate. I never saw Kidd jump over someone and dunk the ball. That is basically 90% of Amare's game.

wouldnt it be ironic if Amare turned into SS? i think its best not to jump to conclusions with just his performance in the summer league. i doubt he was really playing that hard against his opponents. hope he doesnt need another surgery.

In Kidd's defense, his style and solid defense does carry a lot of wear, but I agree that it's nowhere like Amare game.

I think he's smarter than SS. Antonio McDyess on the other hand...

Kidd recovered better than most but still lost a step. He no longer has that extra gear down the court where he can create a fast break by himself. To his credit, he's a better outside shooter than before and he's still so smart that his numbers haven't suffered that much.

As for Amare, I really hope he recovers 100%. Forget any silly "rivalry" with Yao or the fact that he's cocky sometimes. If you truly love the game of basketball, you want to see this guy get back to his old self. Guys who play like him don't come around very often.
