Okay, this is a simple thread dealing with the soon to be announced sale of the Sonics to an OKC group. With the sale of the team into a market that would be limited in salary money, are there any players on the Sonics that might be attractive to the Rockets? Wilcox is a free agent (restricted?) and Ray Allen is taking a huge chunk of their salary cap. Think it through, this might be an opportunity this summer, at the trade deadline, and even into next summer...
SOURCE? its not that exiciting but how will it help us? the player wont become free-agents, or restricted....wilcox wants 10 mil like nene...so i dont see how this helps us...and NO moving back, how does it help us?
If the Sonics are moving its not gonna be this summer. And i don't think OKC is the right city to have an NBA team, maybe St.Louis or Pittsburgh.
That's a rather large claim to be ignored by major news sources. Who are the buyers? Why OKC? Source? Locked soon?
The new owner (TO BE ANNOUNCED THIS EVENING), will be looking to reduce salary over the next 12-18 months. The Hornets will be returning to NO and the new owner (AN OKLAHOMAN) wants to locate the Sonics here in OKC.
Just for the record, Pittsburgh is an awful place to have a basketball team. OKC showed they could support a basketball team. BTW, shouldn't this be moved out of the GARM..? Doesn't really fit.
Id love to have a team here in St. Louis. It is a great sports town. But why are we talking about this?
Why the hell isn't OKC a good city to have an NBA team? Did you see how well the Hornets did there last season? The fans were bonkers there! No, OKC proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are a fantastic NBA city. I think they'd have the same problem as a place like Salt Lake City does in luring free agents, but as far as being able to support an NBA team, they do a better job than a whole lot of bigger markets.
Link?????? Why in the world would Oklahoma City be a bad place. Did you see the Hornets and there attendance
It sounds logical. OKC deserves a franchise after such support, New Orleans can't run away and leave them in the dust. Sonics have had discussions in leaving Seattle, it would work. The question is when? I doubt before the season that's too soon, maybe next summer..but they'll announce it really soon?
The original question was related to who the Rockets might be able to acquire from a team that will be in transition. As you can see, I have been a member since 2002 and I do not start threads, obviously, I have some information that I wanted to share with this board. Unfortunately, I can't reveal the source at this point, but will give you a link to the article this evening... Stop adding negativity and think about who is on the Sonics that Houston would really appreciate...
So both Lakers and Sonics insiders prefer to share information with Rockets fans rather than their own team's fans. Interesting.
