With 63 games left on the schedule, I'd have to say that things look good concerning the playoffs. We only have Minnesota and Denver ahead of us right now. You have to love our chances of making a quality run to finish out the season. What's intersting is how strong the Pacific division is right now. Teams from that division occupy 4 of the top 5 slots in the playoff bracket. We are only 6.5 games behind San Antonio, who lead the Midwest division currently. We are only 4 games behind Utah, who are in second place in the division. What does this mean to us? If we can come on strong and continue to play that way I can see us having a shot at the Midwest Division title. What thet means to us is that we could have the 2nd seed in the playoffs no matter what the other team's records are in the Pacific division. I'm not making any wild prediction nor am I being overly optimistic because we've won 4 out of 5 games. We have a realistic chance to win our division and I'll be happy to argue that point to anyone who feels otherwise. San Antonio and Utah are struggling. That's a fact. The Rockets are coming together. That too is a fact. So what I am saying is that not only do we have a shot at the playoffs, we have a legitimate shot at the second seed in the playoffs. How's that for realism?! ------------------ SpaceCity of RocketFuel
I'd love to make the playoffs. As a fan, when I watch the games, I find myself just wanting them to win. This "just look for progress" crap isn't working out for me. If the playoffs start and we're not in it, I will be pretty depressed. As far as winning the division, the only chance of that would be SA sustaining a major injury, IMO. If they stay healthy, they're most likely a 60-win team. That would mean we'd have to go 53-10 to have a shot at it. I don't think any Rocket team has ever won at that clip, and the conference is tougher than it's been in a long time.
I have a feeling we will get in. If you look at the teamsin front of us how long is it until Denver folds and Minnesota is not tearing it up like these so-called experts said they would. They are playing the way they have the past couple of years and exactly the way that alot of us thought they would play.
I think if the rocks made the playoffs, they would be treated as a top 4 team. 2-10 is tough to fight back from. 1)Without Hakeem for 8 weeks. Cato and Thomas have the oppotunity to improve. 2)The T-wolves will not fold without some major injuries. That leaves the Jazz, Sonics and Suns for teams the rock must pass to reach the playoffs. 3)Every team in the playoffs has an "equal shot". 4)I still think Hakeem can make waves in the playoffs against the smaller playoff bound teams. No more tsunamis though. That's what Francis is for.
And with Charles unoficially out for the season, this season is over... I know I have been a Barkley basher to some degree, but it's just not right for anyone to have to go out like this. For all the stupid things Charles may have done in his career, noone can claim to have played harder on the court than Barkley. This is just a sad, sad ending..
I want to do more then just get in, I think we need to be one of the top 4 to make some real noise. I am not sure we can get there, unless we get on a roll and go for a long winning streak or 2. DaDakota
