we need a backup PG who adds either shooting or perimeter defense.

we need a F/C who can block shots or at least guard the 4/5.

sign one from group A and one from group B, then call it a successful offseason.

    GROUP A

    Wright, Cato, Pollard

    GROUP B

    Banks, VSpan, Atkins, Pargo

    who's with me?

I'm definitley with you on Wright.LW looks like he can provide what we need at the 4/5 along with some upside as his play has improved.
By all means, bring over VSpan NOW.It's time.
But also give us one more athletic guard.

All I know is beside the improvement of Yao Ming I dont think this years team is going to be better than the 05' team that took Dallas to game 7.

    04'-05

    Tmac/Yao/JHoward/Sura/Wesley

    James/JBarry/Padgett/Deke

    06-07'

    Tmac/Yao/JHoward/Shane/Rafer

    Head/Hayes/Deke/Bowen/?/?

what's with the lovefest for Cato on here? that heaping pile of cow dung can't defend and pretty weak on the boards too for someone his size. and IIRC, he makes a heaping pile of money too.

You left off Snyder which is a big key if you're going to compare.. plus we still don't know if the plan is to start with small ball (kinda) with Shane at the 4 and TMac at the 3.

And you're discounting the improvement of Head.

And the question marks could be huge depending on who they are..

couldnt we start lorzen wright at 4 if we trade for him for TE..i mean he can guard big 4s in the west better then juwan...that would give us the line up of yao,wright,battier,t-mac,alston...that is one good line to compte with in west...and we can have snyder, head, juwan, deke, novak, come off the bench....

The improvement of Yao is the single biggest reason why we would be better. Adding other complimentary players is definately beneficial but role players don't make championship teams ...stars do.

I think Cato got cut by Detroit so we could get him really really cheap. If so, he's a good pickup. If he doesn't come really cheap... stay far far away.

If the Roxs can sign Wright and Banks, I think the offseason would have been a success. We would have add shooting, youth and speed to our team which is what we were in desperate need of.

    I don't think Cato's good anymore.

Wright would be a great pickup..can we afford him? Can we get him?

And I like all the guys in Group B..but I'd prefer not to get Chucky Atkins. Either Banks or Pargo would be awesome backups.

And I'd agree that if we made these moves, it'd be a successful offseason! But I don't think we can get Wright.

After watching JLIII last night I want him as our backup PG.

We stil need a 4 in the worse way. Maybe we can trade next years #1 for Stromile Swift. :(

I am with you Wright and Banks should do the trick. But i think with these guys our team has some nice pieces to trade with. Rite now i would love to add ariza as well for that premium depth and trade ability.

    I do like Wright.

Don't think he's on the rockets radar though.

If I could get 2 it would be Wright and Banks.

That is the reason we are not finished with the offseson yet but i say we are still better than that team and we dont have to be a whole lot better because the mavs were damn good.

Why isn't John Lucas III in Group A, or at least Group B. If the Rockets can't even get him, I'll be back in ten months after my recovery.

While probably not at the top of the list, I'd be willing to bet that Lorenzen Wright is at least on the Rocket's radar. Looking at his plus/minus numbers from last year, he was one of the most effective players for the Grizzlies last season (after Battier, of course). I don't really know why Memphis doesn't want to bring him back this year. Maybe they want to play Gasol more minutes at the 5, and they seem to think that Tsakalidis is coming along well enough to be a fixture in their rotation.

If Morey has any input (and he does), Wright should be in the conversation for additional free agents. The only question is whether Jerry West (out of "appreciation" for the Rudy Gay trade) would do a sign-and-trade of Wright for our $4.2M TPE. I actually think that Wright would sign for a contract starting at that salary. He is older than some of the other PF free agents and would prefer a good fit over "getting paid" at this point in his career. Then the Rockets could use a majority of the MLE on Marcus Banks. I think Spanoulis should probably stay over in Europe one more year at least.

I agree with most people here... Wright and Banks would be the best two from those groups
