I emailed Feigen the Snyder trade proposal right after the draft.

    A.J. Gorewatts?

I happen to believe Joe Fay though. :)

CD saying that he has been following Snyder for over a year sold it for me - then I knew he was lying bigtime.

It's also possible Feigen just brought up an old idea that CD had pushed aside for the time being. So maybe CD really did have Snyder in mind. I seriously don't think he'd take the advice of a lousy beat writer.

It's the offseason, they don't update daily. But chron are fine during the season I don't know why everyone's complaining when it's free. During the season they update DAILY so they're pretty good at it.

For some reason I have a good feeling about Snyder, like if he is gonna be alot better than what whe think he is gonna be, I feel like he could have break out season and who knows maybe the James thing was a good one.

Me too, kind of reminds me of the Mario Elie deal where everyone went..."Who cares?" and it ended up being HUGE !

Yeah, I cant get that dunk out of my head when he goes over that Lackers dude and slams it, I think there is more to this guy than what we think and know I hope I am not wrong but I think this guy could be to us what Howard is to Dallas mybe I am dreaming but dont forget he only has 2 years in nba who would have taught people would be going crazy for Mike James when was entering his 3rd year.

The way the "plan B' article was written makes it seem as though Dawson didn't start his player eveluations until after James made his decision. It also makes it appear that player's agent were the initiator's, certainly Snyder's could have been. "We are in the process of putting together a group" certainly doesn't sound like alternative plans had been even preliminarily negotiated. Carroll Dawson certainly shouldn't publicly air his stategies and he his beholden only to the owner but I'd bet the Snyder deal was an agent figuring the best move for his player, finding out what his team would need to move him and bringing to the Rockets. Even if that is so CD would deserve some props for making the quick decision.

    Alternatives eyed

When Mike James turned down the Rockets on Tuesday, Rockets general manager Carroll Dawson began formulating a free agent Plan B. He had plenty of help.

Agents representing guards that would like to be next in line for an offer began calling, but Dawson said he was not ready to target another guard to help with the Rockets' backcourt void they had hoped James would fill.

"We got a pool of five or six guys," Dawson said. "We got film we're letting the coaches get a look at. You're always trying to find that find that will come in and do well. Like Mike James. Three years ago, he was kind of out of league, and look what happened."

So far, Dawson said, he has not concluded any free agent is ready to blossom like that.

"But we just started," he said. "Plan B started yesterday. I've said before: It's not a great year for free agents. We're in the process of going on down the line and putting together a group. The one thing I've never believed in doing and never will do is just have a knee-jerk reaction when something happens that you didn't plan on or like and go out and make a bad play.

"We'll go on down the road. We'll find the next guy. We'll get our share here."

Well, front office types all over the league tend to keep things fairly close to the vest until there's something substantially going on. We can't really take CD's comments at face value. He has all the motivation in the world not to share their thinking with the public.

Short, yes, but that is mitigated by the fact that he is able to get alot of steals defensively. Harris and Rafer know what kind of defense he plays. If he was 6'6'', guess what, he'd never have been available for the MLE in the first place.

Not athletic? Can't agree there. Good first step, good quickness, decent hops.

Old? He just turned 31. That means he wouldn't even have been 35 when his contract expired. As long as his 3-point percentage remained that staggeringly high, at 34 he would still be a useful player out there.

The trade kicker only applies if we use it. Is he the type of player who has ever dogged it out there? And like I said, the last year, he'd only have been 34, and I don't see him falling apart that soon. I think given the circumstances we should have made an exception for him.
