That video was hilarious... The MTV Movie Awards performance was cool. The drummer dressed up as Chewbacca was cracking me up though...
Totally agree. Not sure what all the hype is about. Nothing funky about that song. If I want to hear some 70's funk, I'll listen to some 70's funk.
Is that this season's because I only remember his diva daughter having her sweet sixteen the first season. LA Reid's son had his in New York last season. That's the overweight looking kid that I am thinking of.
ok, i listen to both 70s funk from all regions of the world and listen to gnarles barkley. my question is why cant you appreciate what they are doing? you dont have to categorize it as 70s funk... let the music be what it is...and appreciate it for what it is. gnarles barkley is dangermouse who is just an amazing musician all around... and cee-lo who has also set trends within the music industry. people need to stop catergorizing new music as something from the past... music is an ongoing experiment and develops with time. if you like 70s funk... you MIGHT like gnarles barkley. but dont put the group down because you rather listen to funk from the 70s b/c you believe that was "real" funk. today is new...and people are creating new styles... people ought to embrace it and not have an ear for the typical everyday lines. i think what makes this band pretty cool is not just cee-lo and dangermouse, but the entire band that has a consists of all sorts of muscians...they have an orchestra almost. also please... please... dont form an opinon based on one single song. listen to more of their music before forming a criticism of their music.
on a side note... cee-los daugther sucks at life. she is a bratty bratty bratty girl. he needs to set that girl straight...believe that
I'm not categorizing anything. I'm just noting what flavor of music it shows influences of. And I can call it Big Band but that doesn't change what it sounds like to my ears. And if you have more music of theirs you recommend, then mention it. I'll listen and see if anything changes.
This is coming from a fan of Gnarls (really enjoy 70% of the songs on the album, innovative stuff if you ask me)... BUT, AT THE SAME TIME: Cee-Lo needs to hopefully get bored in a few months & stop worrying about all things Gnarls Barkley related (this group is way too successful to break this good thing he has going with Dangermouse)-> the Goodie Mob is where it is at...
ok... sorry to bring up an old thread, but i was a little late by getting this cd today. i think it's neato! not sure it's a classic, but definitely gives you a break from the gimmicky schat that's out these days. two thumbs up. sorry gb, but i categorize it as neo-soul. erykah badu, angie stone, musiq, deangelo, jill scott, and the vastly under-appreciated RES. guys and gals who were ahead of their time. maybe some had some hits here and there, but later on became more underground. this album is like an industrial, hip-hop, neo-soul, kinda thing. worth buying, imo. deez nutz?
The simple fact that they have gone on interviews saying that they had NO idea who Charles Barkley was when they came up with the name Gnarls Barkley tells me everything I need to know about them. They suck.
They said that? There's no way that's possible. If you don't know who Sir Charles Barkley is, then you just haven't lived. Long live the Round Mound of Rebound, forever one of my favorite players and persons.
