That would be nice!! I like Gooden, he could be a enormous boost! I also like the sound of signing Ariza and Banks (Pollard + JL III). If we could sign all those players it could be an amazing season next year!

I thought they were trying to resign Lebron, not run him out of town with nightmarishly bad players.

:D You 're right! Wesley + Juwan for Gooden and 2nd round pick 2007 instead of Murray!

i agree, they arenot going to give up a good nba starter for a couple scrubs who are past their prime (JHo, Wesley). If they are going to trade gooden, they could get a much better deal than that.

THANK YOU thacabbage! I have been harping on this as well. JVG doesnt have the patience to teach younger players or can't think out of the box to utilize their skillsets to the team, so he goes after the "quick fix" with the veterans. And then the veterans break down and he wonders why?

If our 'system' is so 'niche' that only certain types of players can thrive in it, then we really are limiting ourselves. I am a JVG fan in general. I am not a basher. However the ONUS is on HIM to adjust to the players a bit instead of the other way around.

Good post Duece. Completely agree. That qoute from CD jumped out at me too. The best thing about this off-season might be that atleast we havnt signed any over-the-hill vets. Lets pray that it stays that way.

I don't mind Battie at all (except for the inherent confusiin with "Battier"), but Mutombo and Howard aren't going anywhere. Mutombo has one year left on his contract and essentially has a gentlemen's agreement with the front office that Houston is the only place he would continue plaing. Howard won't get moved unless a contending team all of a sudden is in desperate straights at the four: his contract outstrips his production, he has three years remaining, and he is not getting any younger.

I dont understand why everyone wants Drew Gooden. Hes Juwan Howard Jr. Did you not see Varejo get started over him in the playoffs? Keep Juwan for now, most people underestimate him. He'll still give us 10-12 pts a night, thats good enough for being 4th option on offense. Dont trade away Deke, then you have no one backing up Yao. Trading for Battie would be a step down, the guy is straight up trash.

Goal for the rest of the offseason: try and get VSpan over to play. In addition, solidify your 2/3 spot with an addition like Trevor Ariza or Eddie House. The PFs availible in free agency will ask for too much. As much as i like Chris Wilcox, hes gonna want a fat contract.

If he is Juwan Howard, Jr. then Van Gundy should be all over getting him to replace Juwan, shouldn't he?
