i really wont be mad at the rockets if we dont land jl3 and he ends up going to the suns. Im mean think about it if you had chance to play for the suns for 2 years and boost the heck out of your stats playing that fast system then all of a sudden your a free agent and you end up geting the chance to make joe johnson or Tim Thomas money just because you put up good numbers in Phx. Thats very hard to pass up.
He was also the man spearheading the signing of Brian Scalabrine... the Rocket can use one mroe big guy...
I like the Snyder aquisition. I consider him better than any of the other guards (ie Murray, Bogans, Stevenson) the Rox were looking at aquiring. The great thing about it is that they got him for peanuts, cash and an 08 second round pick swap consideration. Nice work CD! Now we just need to lock up Lucas and find a PF to replace or play ahead of Juwon.
I agree. I think they go after VSpan first and then Banks. Only problem is if Vspan says no and Banks signs withsome else during that time. As for the PF, I think they bring in a back PF with the TE. Not spectacular moves but certainly solid. Lets see what happens.
CD is kind of monotone in general. He used the term Little Lucas like he like the kid, but otherwise I couldn't get a feel for it. He did sound a little more excited about VSPAN but nothing sounded definite.
haha I can't even count the number of times someone has said "Guys we'll never get V-Span the Rockets have no interest in him"
I think our next move should be Eddie House, we could use his explosive offense off the bench, I think we could compete with a line up like: Alston/House/JL3 Snyder/Head/Sura Tmac/Novak/Bowen Battier/Howard/Hayes Yao/Deke Probable Also remember House, Tmac, Battier could play multiple positions.
i like the sound of all that. i think if we come away with all that and maybe trade for a solid PF, we'll have a nice team that gundy will hopefully open up the offense for. i don't know about winning a championship this season with that team, but we'll have a good idea where we stand, and the missing pieces to contend for one should be there in the free agency pool next season. i like CD's approach to this offseason, personally. he did what he could to get his big targeted free agent, missed out, and now is making sensible moves at low cost as a backup plan, rather than panicking and overpaying for crap.
I don't feel like searching for it, but KellyDwyer (writer from SI.com who posts here from time to time FWIW) has posted that he has heard that the "Morey made us pick Scalabrine" was a classic, post-hoc scapegoat thing.
I actually saw the article before it was taken down, it was based on player pair stats. http://www.82games.com/0405NJNP.HTM Scalabrine seems to mesh well with the rest of the Nets starters. His numbers with the Celts is a mixed bag, mostly negative... but perhaps it has to do with his health/conditioning or the rest of the roster not being able to cover up for his defense. http://www.82games.com/0506/0506BOSP.HTM Frankly, for 2-3 mil a year, he's not that bad a contract and will be OK on a different team. The Celts just had a crappy year and fans look for someone to blame.
