I'm not sure if this whole "Snyder is a punk thing" isn't overblown a bit. I mean, we all love Bob Sura and Jon Barry, but every Dallas Mavericks fan from the 04/05 thought these two were punks with their 3-pointer sign taunting the Mavs. Snyder is a young guy who has only been on young teams. Put him on a veteran team where he'll know his role and his place in the hierarchy and perhaps most important, where he has a chance to be a big part of a highly successful team, he has a good chance of behaving and fitting right in in. It's like "Dog Whisperer" on TV. I was kinda thinking the same thing about another talented young guy-- Darius Miles... but Snyder comes much cheaper.
I don't know if this has been said. JVG got his man in his search for a thug. Hopefully he'll work out better than Stro. At least they are taking some risks in this move.
He did get into a fight with a Dallas Maverick although that's more an endearing quality than a negative in my eyes
Bob Sura did that thing where he purposefully tried to get a rebound to get a triple double (wish I remember the particulars, but he was called bone-headed at the time), Tracy was ready to "quit basketball," Mutombo does the finger wag, Alston was "crying," Luther got caught stealing, etc. We've got some players with a few issues of their own. But Battier, Yao, and Bowen are there to straighten them out.
But apparently he got his ass kicked by Jerry Stackhouse. No matter, Chuck Hayes has his back this time.
For the longest time on this board everybody was 'harping' about getting younger, more athletic and now that this deal is i guess done some of you out there are saying -- he's a thug? Yes I know about the taunting deal but if you are looking for a 'choir boy' to fill a role, you will be looking for a long time. I mean clearly he's an upgrade from Bogans and Wesley. I like Wesley but too old, too many injuries. Bogans good defender but a little too inconsistent with the shot. On the other hand, if you have athleticism you can drive it to the hole or you can do a crossover and freeze your man, get the separation and boom knock down the J. I have not been really thrilled with this offseason but finally, accidentally the brass have made what appears to be a good move. So, let's recognize with what few resources we have at our disposal that the front office got us younger; more athletic and we did not give up a TE or MLE to get Snyder? Damn people what more do you want? You want to b*tch, try being a 'bricks' fan. They're so pissed off up there in NY, the fans are having protests almost daily about the front office. Now there is an ownership and management team made in HELL. The Rox need to continue the push for youth and athleticism that's the only way we will get back to the upper echelon of the conference to try to compete for the title. So, come on Rox fans venting your frustrations for a time is ok but this team is far from the worst and this offseason is far from the worst. Enough said.
Battier starts, but he's no PF. He's almost always played SF. He can move over for a little while, but he's not a true PF. Starting five: PG - Rafer SG - Tmac SF - Battier PF - Howard C - Yao Our 'answer' at the SG is on the team already. Battier guards the better opposing 2/3 and Tmac gets the easy assignment. Our new 'answer' to look for is at PF and a solid backup PG.
When Yao is feeding him jumpers and Tracey is setting up slams, it will be one big LOVE feast I'm bettin. Snyder is probably dancing in his living room right now!
Amazing, I'm loving the dunk clip. 6-6, good height. 23 good age. Traded nothing. Seems like a pretty decent pickup. Let's hope he performs next year!
Battier played about a third of his minutes at the 4 last season. I don't consider him a PF, but I don't think the Rockets are going to be playing with PFs in the future. Battier, Novak, maybe Padgett, Howard, and Hayes are the probable 4's for the Rockets. Of these guys, Howard and Hayes are the most like a traditional PF. This isn't to say Novak will be a good player, but that most likely he'll be given a chance to play the 3/4 benchwarmer this year. McGrady may also play some situaional minutes at the 4 if the Rockets can get another swing player. Snyder, from the stats as I don't see the Oklahoma team play much, appears to be a bargain. I just hope he can play his man even when he's not going against the star players. The Rockets go as far as McGrady and Yao can carry them.
