Nice pickup, for all the good reasons mentioned in many of these posts. It would be ironic of Kirk has a better year then Gay.

I have two memories of Snyder. One is his taunting JVG and our team and his coach going ballistic on him.

The other memory was Kirk Snyder kicking the Rockets ass for the 5 minutes before his coach put him on the bench for taunting us.

Hopefully more David Wesley than Reece Gains in the heart and brains dept.

Snyder seems like he could be a solid player for us and we didn't have to give up much at all. I like this move.

I like Alston I think he can be an excellent point for us when last year we were talkin bout Williams not able to be a championship point guard and we all saw how that turned out. I really like Snyder, he gives excellent size and athleticism and he can defenitley knock down the three. Dont know much bout his defense but if he is decent he could start for us than just be a backup

    PG-Alston
    SG-Snyder
    SF-McGrady
    PF-Battier
    C-Yao

    Decent pickup.. very interesting though...

Just a few days ago I read a report that Byron Scott was very unhappy with Snyder's selfish play in summer league. Scott thought he forced too much action and didn't pass it to the open man, especially the big men when they were wide open in the post. Hopefully that won't happen here..

This rocks. He's young, his 6' 6", can shoot a decent percentage (with a major improvement from his rookie numbers last year despite limited minutes) and athletic. And all we had to give up was some cash and maybe a pick swap. CD pulled a rabbit out of his hat here. Not a big rabbit, but nice move nonetheless. I don't expect him to have attitude problems around *this* ballclub. He's a young'un and he's getting to play with T-Mac and Yao...this is a big upgrade for him.

According to Hoopshype Snyder's contract looks like:

    06-07: $1,537,440
    07-08: $2,358,432 (team option)
    08-09: $3,313,598 (qualifying offer)

So even if he doesn't workout, we can decline his option next year.

That photo of JVG and Snyder is priceless! "IF" Snyder is an attitude problem it will be interesting to see how he might clash with JVG. On the other hand, if he does what the coach says and has that "killer mentality" and "bulldog personallity" then we could certainly use that.

Young, 6'6" and athletic. Certainly nice to have that at SG.

I dont know how this will turn out, but in terms of VALUE, this is a good transaction. We picked up this guy with our lesser T.E. and still have our full MLE and our larger 4.2 TE available to add other players. At least it's value. And another asset...such as it is.

And we may not even need Flip Murray anymore. Our shooting guard depth chart is adequate already with T-Mac, Snyder and Head -- which permits us to focus on signing backup point guards (Banks and Lucas hopefully) and perhaps a strong big to backup Yao/provide some Deke insurance. Nice job, CD. I like this one.

And too expensive (not his salary, but how much we gave up to get him...)

Woah, let's not get carried away here. We lose Bogans and pick up Snyder. It's a wash, IMO.

    Bogans (w/ HOU): 32.2 MPG, 8.5 PPG, 39.5% FG, 31.4% 3PT FG, 4.5 RPG, 2.5 APG, .97 SPG, 1.48 TO/G
    Kirk Snyder: 19.3 MPG, 8.0 PPG, 45.3% FG, 35.7% 3PT FG, 2.4 RPG, 1.5 APG, .43 SPG, 1.08 TO/G

Kirk is a little better, and he is younger, but he's got attitude problems. Like I said, a wash. I'm filing this move under "indifference" for now.

Okay, CD, you've replaced Bogans. Show me something else now.

Even more priceless is this one that someone did last year. I think we all spit our drinks on our monitors after seeing the first time. I was laughing uncontrollably for a while. My wife thought I was losing it!

I too, remember hiim putting Nevada on his back in the tournament. If Snyder is motivated and fockassed,he could become the starting 2.Most likely we have a solid rotation player. As everyone has mentioned,we gave up nothing.
    Great move!
