Actually, no. Wesley is a free agent. He's no longer on our roster.

I do like the idea of Juwan/Wesley for Gooden. I'll do that any day of the week. Once again, here ya go (updated version):

    1. Trade Wesley/Juwan for Gooden (picks included, sure, whatever)
    2. Use the 4.3 TE on Eddie House
    3. Use the MLE on Rasual Butler ++ (plus maybe another player)
    4. Sign John Lucas 3 to a Min. contract
    5. Sign Cato to Vet. Min.

I think the MLE and the TE should be used to somehow to lure Rasual Butler, Reggie Evans, and Eddie House to Houston.

Wouldn't you rather use the TE on Freddie Jones if the Pacers decide not to keep him? I would...

If true, that means the Rockets renounced his Bird Rights even though they had no cap impact. Another blunder in a summer filled with blunders.

I probably would throw in the pick, too. Gooden is a risk, but he did average 8.4 rebounds per game in only 27 minutes last year (which is an upgrade), and shot over 50%. Also, at 6-10 he could play backup center, which is a consideration, given Mutombo is on his last legs.

The trade exception would give Cleveland flexibility to do a sign and trade for Marcus Banks, who they supposedly are looking at.

Damon Jones would get to live close to his baby boy (with Tina Thompson). Not sure this would help him revive his shooting, though? He had a great percentage with Miami two years ago, but of course, that was a contract year.

But you may be right - JVG may view both of these guys as "knuckleheads."

    I like Gooden.

He is if nothing else a pretty solid rebounder. Has a lot of off nights shooting wise, but he is capable of being a starter for this team, no question.

Yeah Damon Jones is a cancer. If people knock MJ for his ego, how do you think DJ would do in Houston? Although he is a U of H alumni, I still would have a hard time seeing him in a Rox uni.

Gooden would be the first positive move in our long, sad off-season.

oh yeah, just a reminder, sign Butler and House!!

Wouldn't ya'll rather trade Howard for SJax and Gooden for the 4.3 TE. leaving you with MLE and the smaller TE between House/Butler/JR Smith...??

Another complicating factor on a sign and trade of Gooden is that if he gets over a 20% raise from his $4.1 million salary from last year, he is a BYC player. This means the most his contract could start at is $4.92 million, which is less than the MLE; otherwise, he is a BYC player. However, this may work to our advantage, since we would be one of few teams that could offer a trade exception to offset the BYC issues by taking back salary in a separate, simultaneous transaction? GATER, am I looking at this correctly?

    Low BB IQ and inconsistent.

    Not a JVG-type player.

    Pass.

Drew Gooden is terrible. He might be the single dumbest player in the league. There's no way you lock this clown up long term.

Any sane person would dump Juwan's contract for virtually ANYBODY if he were Rockets GM, let alone having Gooden in return.

    JBC -
If that's Gooden's last contract, you are correct on the BYC. Good catch.
