    We all love the Rockets. There is no dispute in that.

    Right now, it's kind of like having a fight with your girlfriend (boyfriend) or wife (husband). You know you're going to make up because you love her (him), but that doesn't mean you have to be pleased about every one of her (his) actions or inactions.

    By the way, we're just questioning the recent moves by CD and Co. He works for Rox. He is not THE Rox.

    when it comes to exterior things(uniforms, promotions, entertainment @ the Toybox,etc)...yes I believe the marketing department cares about what we think.

    When it comes to player movements and their plan (or lack thereof) for team building...hell no they arent gonna listen to us over their highly paid professionals.

    WHo the hell are we to say whats right and whats wrong?

    They have access to information and reports that we dont get...or if we do get them..they are highly diluted or inaccurate.

    Take the Battier thing for example....

    he is universally liked and respected for what he brings to the court, yet the greater majority of the "hard core" fansthink he is a nobody...a scrub that wont help us.
    Gay is not the next coming of Jordan...hell, I doubt he would be the next coming of Elie...yet...so many here are absolutely convinced he is such a surefire star that we shoudlnt dare trade him for one of the best support players in the league.

    Stro you say???

    oh please.

    I watched every single second of Rockets basketball since Stro has been here...and ya know what...as much as yall hate Howard....he is flatout a more productive player than Stro...EVERY GAME
    What does that say about a guy that could not even beat Howard out for minutes on a injury riddled team?

    I hear it now...VG's pet...right???

    NO

    he has shown that he will not continue to allow a player that hurts the team when on the court to stay on the court. period.
    You play good solid ball...you stay on the court.

    look...I could go on...but it isnt worth it. I know I can have a decent conversartion with you...but unfortunately...not everyone here is as reasonable as you are, and quite frankly I dont want to hear(read) any more rehashing of the same illogical crap that is in evey other thead.

    So Ill leave it at that.

    Are Knicks fans who blast away at Isaiah and his idiotic trades also the height of arrogance?

    Do we have to become the Knicks before we can complain?

    Are we supposed to just agree with everything Rox management does?

    In fact, us fans blasting away at management for what we perceive to be lopsided deals only shows that we CARE about this team and where this team is going.

    The real shame would be if the fans don't care enough anymore to even bother.

    Again, just because they are paid to do a job, doesn't necesarily mean they're doing the job well. Why does Bush have such a low approval rating? Why get approval ratings? Bush is PAID to be President, so he MUST know what he's doing right? Who the hell are we to say Bush is wrong?

    I may hate the trade we did, but in no way am I renouncing my loyalty to the Rockets. Do we really need to be a bunch of Yes-men who will agree with everything management does? I have my opinion, and you have your own. That certainly does not give you the right to insult us by saying "Who the hell are we?" or that our opinions count for nothing because we aren't paid professionals.

    So what happens when highly paid Jerry West molest highly paid Charlotte and Houston GMs?

    And what happens when some fans agree with Jerry West?

    Some guys without an opinion jump in and yell we don't know sh*t. Yeah we don't know sh#t, but we know Jerry West. He is not a miracle GM, but I take him over CD anyday.

    Honestly I get into this thread because I found 2 strange words in the thread title. I checked the dictionary then realised that Sycophant is a derogatory term while Nihilist is relatively neutral. Hence I guess I don’t have to check the poll results to learn which camp you are closely allied, thumbs? :)

    There are so many angry clutchfans here recently but I suggest we step back a bit and try to recall what incidents had happened these months that irritated our clutchfans:

    A. The Rockets didn’t tank at the end of the season to gain a higher position in the lottery picks;

    B. Our Management traded Stromile Swift + 8th overall pick to Memphis for Shane Battier;

    C. Our Management failed to sign Mike James;

    D. Our current roster is hopeless in the coming season;

    E. All of the above

    Frankly I am not happy with case A here but I am okay with B, C and definitely disagree with D. So thumbs, can you tell me which camp I am more closely allied? :p

    And R2K, I understand why you are so irritated. Don't worry, those posts and posters normally diminish spontaneously when we have a successful season and I am optimistic about it.

    You got me. I am more closely allied to the Nihilist camp. However, I can't place you in any cubbyhole -- you have to decide.

    An earlier poster suggested "doomsdayers" and "Pollyannas." Please make that substitution if you will because the highly subtle, underlying point of the thread is to demonstrate that both camps really have more in common than is being shown.

    Besides TMac and Yao Ming (who are one tweek and one misstep away from season or career ending injuries) and possibily Battier who is a solid role player, please share the basis for your optimism about the team in the upcoming season. Seriously.

    I am trying to share my optimism about the team in terms of the positive side of our players at their positions but interestingly found that you have already done 3 for me. Well, 3 solid players out of 5 positions, sounds good to me.

    Okay, seriously, IMHO, I think Rafer Alston was a nice addition to our team. Before then, the best passer to Yao in our team was T Mac, needless to say, it was a waste of talent, and I mean T Mac's talent. When we have both T Mac and Yao on the court, at the offensive end, we want them both concentrate on scoring, hence we need a pass-first ball handler. And I think Rafer was doing fine in this category, esp when he was playing together with T Mac and Yao. He might be a bit slow as a defender but as long as he keeps contributing at the other end, I will still rank him as our best option at the PG position.

    We still need to improve the depth of our roster and I believe in CD, who brought T Mac and Yao into this team IIRC.
