I've been looking all over the net to see what his contract situation is with Denver. I know that Denver right now is way over cap and they have money tied up for a very long time. I thinkg Reggie is the hard-nose rebounder we have been wanting to get. He plays great interior D and would be a nice compliment to Yao..
I am not so sure on this but didn't Van Gundy praise Evans a bunch when the Rockets played Denver. He is an excellent rebounder but we got another version of him in Chuck Hayes.
"Reggie Evans would definitely get best actor in the league," Van Gundy said. "I am so sick of watching that guy flop I can't stand it. It is an absolute disgrace what he does. Those two fouls he supposedly drew on Yao (Ming) the other night were a joke — jumping into the front row. The NBA's got to do something about it. He's taken flopping to a new level." His comments while doing TNT play-by-play for the Clips-Den series were equally sharp in regards to his grabbing incident. JVG respects his rebounding but loathes his dirty play. Evan
because he was on the other team. if he does what he does best for the rox, JVG will surely like him.
Yeah no kidding. He will always be infamous for that. He does bring alot of boards to the table though.
I dont think the Rockets wan't any homosexual players. We traded Gay, no way we are gonna get Mr. Ballgrabber.
i like that he can rebound, but... 1. we have chuck hayes already 2. as aforementioned, jvg hates him 3. he pulled that weird, dirty crap on kaman 4. i don't want someone on our team that flops almost as much as dirk
You guys may be misreading Van Gundy's thoughts on Evans... JVG said he's a flopper, but he also said he loves Reggie's hustle and everything about his game but the flopping... Coaches always hate floppers, unless the flopper is on the coach's team.. That said, I'm curious about what the FA market looks like for Evans now. Denver does not have his Bird Rights and is overloaded at PF. He's a great rebounder, but a pretty mediocre overall player. I'd love to get him if the Rockets trade Juwan first for any kind of perimeter help.
The only good things about his game is rebounding and post defense which Chuck Hayes does equally well, but at a much better price. On the other hand, his FT shooting is atrocious. Bad FT shooters are a pet peeve of mine. How painful to watch Shaq and Ben Wallace trade bricks in that playoff series. No thanks.
I really love Evans, don't get me wrong(not in the wrong way that is). His imapct, for those 18-24mpg are very assertive in the game. He rebounds, he plays dirty, he defends, he harasses. However, if we didn't have Chuck, I'd really pursue him. With Chuck here, I'd much rather give him the playing time, to elevate his game with a possible offensive option?
