I'm glad Battier is here and I know he is going to make a huge impact on this team on and off the court aswell. I wish we could have held onto Bogans because its hard to find a 6 foot 5 gaurd who is athletic and can play really solid defense. I was all for getting Marcus Banks or Fred Jones before but that was when I thought Bogans would be back now we need another sg/sf who can run the court , play solid defense and open the paint for Tmac and Yao. I think we should offer Rasual Butler the entire TE and get him locked up. Alston and Sura can hanle point gaurd and if we add Butler he and Head can handle the 2 gaurd spot. What do you guys think? Come on why so negative? Were sure gonna do better this year with battier than we would have with that gay dude.
I don't think the majority of people upset about the deal are angry about getting Battier in any way -- it was the cost in getting him. If the Rockets had acquired him in some way without giving up the draft pick, people would be doing cartwheels. No matter if Rudy Gay pans out or not, the potential of that pick has an assigned value to it. Throwing in Swift.... anyhow, I've ranted about that enough. Battier will be a very solid Rocket. He's extemely classy, intelligent, hardworking and efficient. I know someone made a crack implying it's somewhat racist to rave about how "well-spoken" he is ... but it's rare in any athlete to see that -- especially a basketball player. Little things like when he closes by saying "Thank you, Bill" to Bill Worrell ... most players don't care to have any idea who is interviewing them. Again, the cost was high, but Battier will be a solid addition. The Rockets still have many holes to fill however.
