At least someone knows about little known players. Just because some of you guys haven't heard of him doesn't mean he is a scrub. He will fit very well in Phoenix's system also cause he is unselfish. A lot of players in Philly are underrated because "AI" is there. I think the other AI(Andre Iguodala) on their team will be a star in this league if he is ever given the chance. He also has sick ballhandling and point guard skills that no one knows about.
I saw him a couple of games and I kind of like him. Dont know if he is worth that much, but what the hell...throw that TE at him.
Thanks. I was wondering why the hornets would do something like that. They seemingly did a favor for Indy for nothing. But then I looked at the link and saw that they got cash out of the deal. There goes George Shinn again. The guy knows how to turn a buck.
I bet CD maybe doesnt even know Salmons is FA. When his plan B is finished, the players on the list are all gone.
Not as long as JVG is coach and CD is the GM. I swear my 6 year old brother can do a better job as a gm than what CD and JVG have shown us so far this offseason. I'm still really dumbfounded, i hope within the next week we find out something about a personel move or a signing.
Sad thing is .. Philiadelphia is reported to be doing a SNT deal for Salmons starting at 3.6 million ( 5 year deal ) The ROX could match / beat that offer with their TE
None of the guards on Phoenix would fit the Rockets slow-poke style of play, no mater how much we'd like to fantasize about it. I dont envy their specific personnel moves, but their ability to find YOUNG talent that matches their team vision. What the Rockets need is the next Luke Ridnour, TJ Ford or Kirk Hinrich type player, "consumate point guards," which they'll never find. Instead, they'll probably get the 50 year old Kirk Hinrich used-to-be so he can get injured and sit on the bench. By the way, who the hell is Lior Eliyahu?
I didn't hear it myself - so it's 2nd hand information - but apparently Philly radio is confirming that Salmons has chosen Toronto over Phoenix. I'm sure a public report will follow shortly if true.
http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/sports/basketball/15032025.htm Confirmation, it seems. As per my post on realgm, the deal breaks down as follows: 2006-07 = $3.8 mil (10.5% raises = $400k) 2007-08 = $4.2 mil 2008-09 = $4.6 mil 2009-10 = $5.0 mil 4 year total = $17.6 mil + 2010-11 = $5.4 mil (5th year option) 5 year total = $23.0 mil If he was signed by Toronto or Phoenix, he would have been limited to 8% raises. Either team could have bumped the first year up a little to re-work the total towards $23 mil - but once Salmons decided on Toronto (Colangelo confirmed it was 100% up to Salmons, not the teams), then he agreed to work a S&T which helps Philly acquire a Trade Exception worth $3.8 mil, as well as a 2nd rounder, apparently. We could have just signed him to the same amount outright, with no compensation, so I'm think Philly owes us one somehow.
The thing is, and many people missed this point, Raja Bell was exactly the player he was 2 or even 3 seasons ago. What really changed was the pace the Suns play at, which led to increase productions, as well as the extra exposure with him being the only good defender on the team and the Suns being generally successful last year. We will see about Salmons, but I personally think that contract, if true, is over-reaching it. I don't think Salmons can beat out Barbosa unless the Suns have decided to let Barbosa go after this season. Salmons and Jared Jafferies are the two most overrated FAs at this moment.
wow thats a lot of money for a player like him. i guess mike james is underpaid if this guy is getting 23 mil.
One thing Raja Bell has been able to do several years before joining the Suns was shoot the long ball. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/raja_bell/index.html He didn't attempt as many shots, but his 3 pt shooting % was good even in Utah and in DAL (though he didn't play or shoot much back then). Salmons, on the other hand, hasn't proven he can make that long J consistently... I'm kinda wondering if that'd hamper his fitting into a Suns like system.. In any case, looks like he won't be a Raptor. We'll see who takes a flyer on him now.
Well all the Suns' money dried up. Maybe we can get him on the cheap. It looks like we're going to cut into the MLE again to lock up Lucas. We still have the big TE, but I don't know if I'd want to give Salmons the same kind of offers he was getting from Phx and Tor.
