1. Vancouver Grizzlies-B+, Nomar got in my opinion the best player in the whole draft and im happy the rockets got him in real life, this grade would have been higher had he not given up so much to get this pick 2. Charlotte Hornets-A, Kwame Brown is a fabulous addition to a team that pretty much needs everything, sf3 should be very happy, although only reason it isnt slightly higher is maybe since he needed multiple things he wouldve been better off keeping the 9 and the 11, but overall i cant fault him for the decision-either way is good 3. Phoenix Suns-A+, Anticope got an excellent future center in eddy curry who should turn out to have a very, very productive career, and tony parker, a top pg prospect, which at 39 will be a steal and him and curry should help fix the two most important positions of any nba franchise for yrs, also the acquistion of joe smith for the 31st pick was a major coup 4. Boston Celtics-B+, Puedlfor got an excellent future pf in Rodney White who can do multiple things and flourish playing alongside one of the nba's premier centers, Alonzo Mourning, this grade would have higher except i think in the predraft trade which landed him this pick, he gave up more than he got back 5. Houston Rockets B-, TheCat had an eventful draft, as he traded for seattles pick which resulted in shane battier, a player many consider the most polished player in the draft, while i love his game im not sure giving up keith van horn for him is worth it, likewise he made another controversial move sending productive bench pf to phoenix for the 31st pick which netted him michael bradley, the jury is out on this trade as only time will tell, but bradley does possess good tools 6. Orlando Magic-A+, Boville(picks by Heath), got a future star in Pau Gasol with the 6th pick, 7 foot sfs dont come around often and he has a good overall game, however he does need to get stronger to maximize his nba potential, also he got a steal in #33 pick trenton hassell, this kid is a pure scorer and in raul lopez a guy who hopefully will bring come comfort to gasol as he is from spain, like pau and is drawing comparisons to stockton, however while i doubt he reaches that level he should be a solid player in the league for years to come 7. Nuggets A-, Franchise got two very talented players in omar cook and joe johnson, both with tremendous passing ability, but johnson will the more well rounded game, who should greatly help the nuggets on the road to respectability, however i think a pick of tyson chandler or diop would have been the best as he does need a post presence, however that being said he has had a very good offseason with his trade with grizzlies and these two picks 8. Utah Jazz-A+, BGM had an outstanding draft, picking up a good young center in diop and a good shooting big man in radmanovic, i think these moves position the jazz to stay in the thick of the west race for many years to come, as for the predraft trades which netted these picks i think he did well in the hughes for diop exchange and getting radmanovic along with lewis,al harrington and more for vince carter was also a commendable move, although i do think another superstar player to compliment mcdyess wouldnt hurt 9. Miami Heat-A+, Drew got a bigtime draft steal getting jason richardson at number 9, i think he will have a great nba career, also the traded he made with warriors for the 11th overall pick was larceny as eddie robinson and the two high common picks are a welcome addition, the selection of dalembert as the 32th pick is an ok one, however i do think i wouldve taken ken johnson in that situation, but the two players are very comparable, also getting darius miles raises this grade a notch 10. Cleveland Cavs-B+, Phi had a good draft, as getting Tyson Chandler at his pick was a major coup, i think chandler will become a productive player in the nba whether its at center or small forward, however taking Alvin Jones at pick 27 was way too high for him in my opinion especially with dalembert or johnson available 11. Golden State Warriors-D, JDZAU way overpayed to get jamaal tinsley who would have been available at his 20th pick i think, although i do think tinsley will turn out a successful pro and surprise people and i do like the gamble on gerald wallace who i do think has the tools to become a major star, whether he can harness them is a big question 12. Philadelphia 76ers- A+, Heath had a very good draft in nabbing kedrick brown, loren woods and kirk haston, these players will help provide, youth, athleticism, experience, and rebounding to the perennial eastern power for many years to come 13. Detroit Pistons A-, Castor made a great selection getting troy murphy with his lone pick. Murphy is a very versatile player capable of swinging between the 3,4 and 5 spots, although with his improved foot speed he should become a good nba starter for years to come, only reason this grade is slightly lower is because while i like the addition of iverson to the mix, i think he didnt quite get enough in return although the return of jerome williams should provide interior rebounding they need 14. Indiana Pacers-A, Sam made a very good selection by nabbing richard jefferson, who has unlimited potential and should eventually reach it and become a successful two guard in the nba and happened to be in my opinion the best available player left on the board 15. Washington Wizards B, While i like terrence morris's game i think dbc would have been better served trading down a few spots to snag a decent role player/pick for the future, overall not a bad pick though 16. Portland Trail Blazers-A+, Smeg got a steal in zach randolph, i think he will turn into a great nba pf and adds even more talent to an already talented group, this helps even up the kings/blazers deal where he sent marc jackson away for chris mihm 17. Toronto Raptors-C, In dhr first moves as raptors owner he shipped out darius miles and selected joseph forte, While i do think forte will find a way to make it in the nba, i dont think giving up such a good young talent in darius miles was a good thing, thus the poor grade 18. Atlanta Hawks, A+, While im not very high on brendan haywood i do think he can give productive bench minutes in the future,on the other hand i do like jeryl sasser who can become a successful combo guard in the league, but he earned this high grade through the draft trade which got him an extra common pick and the services of highly talented pf kenyon martin, who should install life into a floundering franchise 19. Seattle Supersonics- A+, I think raven had a nice draft as kvh is better than the number 5 pick in my opinion and hunter will turn into a serviceable role player 20. Minnesota Timberwolves-B While Vj2k couldnt make it, thecat picked jason collins for him, this guy has a history of injury probs but minnesota gets a kid who could be a hardworking inside rebounding big man for yrs to come 21. Sacramento Kings-im not going to rate my own draft as to not be biased so ill let someone else do it 22. Bulls B-, with the 8th pick in a previous trade they got larry hughes which was a good move for both parties, also i think it could slant in bgms favor in the future, with the rookie picks acquired in the crawford trade he got jeff trepagnier, this guy is an excellent athlete but if hes anything more than a decent role player, end of the bench guy id be shocked and branded would have a steal as for lakers, mavs, nets, clippers there picks were gone through trades and if i get time ill do them later as for bucks and knicks, both gms failed to show for the draft which is not a very good thing at all, although they will have a shot at the leftovers from the draft ------------------ How Sweet It Is! So, Forte and ERob for Miles and #1 2nd rd common pick is an equal trade. It was not just Miles for Forte. Overall, good job on the gradings though. ------------------ Who needs teachers? I demand a recount! Seriously, while Van Horn is a good player, and will get good numbers, he isn't a great defender, and doesn't do a lot of the little things. I have a lot of stars in Steve, Vince, and Dirk. I need somebody like Battier who has all the intangibles, knows how to win, and will do everything I need. I doubt he gets Van Horn numbers, but other areas imho make him a positive for me. ------------------ EDDIE, EDDIE, EDDIE!!! Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. I think my grade should be higher, if this was last years draft T-Mo would of been lottery material. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams and Lisa Malosky fan club. atheistalliance.org
Well I started to do this grading, but then I realized what an incredible waste of time it would be since people would just be complaining about my grades anyway. I'll just put you guys into groups. I don't really know why I felt the need to explain my "decent" draft teams, I guess b/c I didn't see their picks as making serious impacts like some of the other teams. Also I really don't want to have anyone talking to me about their picks and how I'm wrong b/c I really don't care. I also understand some of you traded picks for great players and all I have to say is kudos to you, I was too lazy to do that much research. Best Draft Magic Really Good Drafts Sixers Celtics Grizz Hornets Solid Drafts Rockets Heat Suns Nuggets Decent Draft Kings - don't take this the wrong way dv, the picks were pretty good, and the guys you draft will help build your bench, but I think the teams I placed ahead of you got players that could start, that's why they're ahead. Cavs - I still don't think very highly of Chandler... Raptors - I think Forte can become a very special player. Pistons - I can't get excited for Troy Murphy, sorry Castor Average Drafts Hawks Bulls Blazers Pacers Wizards Sonics Poor Drafts Warriors Horrendous Drafts Mavs Bucks Knicks Nets Lakers Clippers Spurs Don't take any of my picks the wrong way guys... ------------------ This post contains no smilies, you must judge my seriousness on your own... i dont at all bgm, im very happy with what i got, i didnt need starters for my team(those were fixed with season trades), i wanted good young role players to strengthen an already deep bench, i understand completely what ur saying, no offense taken ------------------ How Sweet It Is! I think it's kind of dumb to quote a person's entire post and still talk as if you read the whole thing. Honestly dc, did you actually read my post or did you just look at where the Spurs were? Maybe you should look a little closer at the other teams in the "horrendous draft" category, do you notice any similarities? Oh look at that! I think my last sentence might be directed to teams like yours, did you not understand what I said? Should I have gone through each team and figured out who they traded their picks to and for what? I guess so, I wouldn't want dc to drop his epic "genius" line. I'll remember in the future to treat you with kid gloves b/c you seem to lack the ability to recognize humor and understand when a broad statement might include your team. BTW genius, this isn't the first time you seem to be unable to understand what other people have typed, I've heard on multiple occasions how you've offered the dumbest trades that include non-existant picks. I hate to tell you this, but there is no such thing as a 2nd round rookie, and from what I've heard, even when you've been told there was no such thing, you continued to offer it, do you just choose to ignore such statements, or do you honestly just continue to offer your 2nd round rookie hoping someone will take it? I wasn't going to grade the rookie drafts b/c I figured some GM's would be complaining about my picks, I had no clue they were going to talk down to me like you. No need to reply to this post with the typical dc "jesus christ, I had no clue you took this so seriously, lighten up genius" comeback. I realize this is just a fantasy league, and nothing should be taken seriously, maybe you should learn how to read a person's post before you tell them how dumb their opinion is... Oh, by the way I don't think I'll trade McDyess, Kukoc, and Lewis for Samaki Walker and a future 2nd round rookie pick... [This message has been edited by Band Geek Mobster (edited June 29, 2001).]
When are we getting your grades Pued? ------------------ This post contains no smilies, you must judge my seriousness on your own...
Whoa. I think BGM just used up his whole clip right there. Time to reload BGM, cause your all out of bullets. ------------------ The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?
How can the draft be going on during the playoffs? ------------------ Protrolls.com! "I want to be like Olajon." -Sagana Diop has the right idea...
ZRB we did the draft during the playoffs, but the teams cant use there rookies untill next season u are still allowed to take 2 rookies since we skipped the Bucks pick, there are some players left.. check the MAKE UR PICKS INSIDE to see who was taken(its based on rookie draft) ------------------ ***FRANCHISE***

i didnt have a pick genius. and the pick i had i traded away was to get vin baker and jr rider . so its kind of dumb saying i had a horrendous* draft. ------------------ mgh 1924 - 2001 http://www.al-gore-2004.org/ [This message has been edited by dc rock (edited June 29, 2001).]
