Right. How the hell do any of us know what the hell he really feels. He tells a local radio station (while playing for the Rockets) that he is going to opt out of his contract and wanted to get paid. Kind of wrote his own ticket out of here cause I remember CD saying on the radio once that they knew this and saw an opportunity to get another player they liked for him.

Then, he expresses his desire to come back this season, tells the local news stations that it's not about the money, how he is blown away by what JVG and the Rockets did at the start of free agency.

Now, he is b****ing about trying to get more money and pretty much displays hate for the Rockets for trading him. But, oh wait, it's a business and not personal.

This guy comes off as borderline psychofrenic.

If he wants to play the Rockets, they should say take it or leave it. He will not make or break this season and they have much more offseason to go to try to improve this team than to sit there begging for his services.

He would be a very nice addition to the roster, but he is not worth all of this.

Basically what i gathered from his two interviews in that the Rockets arent offering the full 5 yrs, and if they i doubt this wait would be taking place (especially knowing that they cant offer any more if they pleased). I honestly dont blame the guy at all for making the team sweat his decision, and if hes simply using the Rockets for his own benefit, then i still would hold no grudges against him because quite honestly if the Rockets made a business decision to trade him, then he owes them nothing, i felt it was far fetched enough that he would even want to return to a team that traded him on the first day of training camp, therefore not giving him any time to relocate and get comfortable. Not only that, but he was traded to a team in Canada. I would love to see James back here, and i think the Rockets would be foolish and ignorant if they are truly not offering the full mid level exception at 5 yrs. especially if they're worried about winning now

OK, so tell me how this is BS? Should they sign James to the max and then to a sign and trade with Yao or McGrady? What options do we have here? Wow, I am amazed that some are still whining about Rudy Gay.

I don't blame Mike James if he decides not to sign with the Rockets. The Mavs will probably be a better team, there style suits Mike James more (a lot of one on one ISO plays for the PG), and I think the situation there is overall more appealing. And if a team traded me to another country less than a year before, and now they were begging to have me back, it sure would feel good to refuse them.

Yeah, it's a business, but there can also be consequences when you trade players to bad situations like what we did with Mike James.

He is really mad at the Rockets but he doesn't sound satisfied with the rest either. Sooner or later we will know.I would like him back but if he is so bitter about being traded and can't forgive the organization then it's better for us to go on without him.

mike james shud thank us for trading him to a horrible team, it is BECAUSE we traded him to the raptors all these teams are after him, he was like the #1 or #2 option and had complete freedom to put up numbers, and showcase his skill. because of that the mavs, rockets, heat, twolves etc. r after him, going to the raptors in my opinion cud have been the best thing in his career

Sounds like a Carlos Beltran move.

I think he is trying to get more money or more years - hence the attitude. That or like someone else said - hes Tom Cruise psycho!!

If you were the Rockets would you give him the full MLE? I am not so sure I would. He would be a nice addition, but the fate of the Rockets will depend on the health of McGrady and Yao. If they are strong and playing at their best then they can find complimentary players and win it all.

Those interviews were vintage Mike James. I don't think they reflect at all on what his decision is going to be.

James finally expresses his true mind. There's no way he really wants to come back to the team that traded him away. He's just waiting for the biggest contract from any other team. That's all.

why not sign him to the mle, give him 5 yrs, after 2-3 yrs we can trade his old ass, and we wont have to worry abt wat he thinks cuz we wont be trying to get him wen his contract runs out and hes like 37, remember its a business

So let me understand you, let's say the Rockets are offering a 5 year TE deal with a player option on the 5th year. And no one else is ofering more than a 4 yr MLE and the 5yr TE is approx 3mil more than the 4 yr MLE deal but James wants the 5 yr MLE deal and he considers the Rockets hard stance to be an insult and his agent is feeding his head with "remember the trade type stuff". So now he's pissed because the Rockets won't give in... and you say it's only a few more million, why don't we just give it to him. and if they don't they are ignorant.

But let's look at it from a Rocket standpoint. Yes we want James but if we don't get him for the TE we will have expended all of our MLE money and we can't find a TE partner that has shooting Guard that we would be interested in. So we just have lost the ability to expand our roster with anything more than a minimum salary SG. (and don't say we could trade JHO for 1)... Now on the other hand if we let James go and we use the TE on BAnks we still have the MLE to pursue a shooting guard like BONZi (doubtful) or this Euro kid Anthony Parker or Spanoulis or some other Player. So would you say then signing James at all costs is better than picking up Banks and one of these other players. If yes is your answer then so be it... and let's just find out if the Rockets agree. In my mind it's not as easy a choice and I would be inclined to go the the 2 position route. My hope is that we get James for the TE but if we don't plan B is not a total loss.

This is the Rockets fault if they lose him. They sat around on their asses and put all their eggs in the Mike James basket. If he goes to another team, they have no one to blame but themselves if they are left holding their dicks in their hands.

And John Lucas III has ZERO chance of being a legit starting guard in this league. He can be a third, but you do NOT want him as a second no matter how gawdy his summer stats look.

By the way, whoever mentioned something about a no-trade clause, there is no such thing in the NBA. Only the MLB has no-trade clauses.

I was thinking the same thing, in '95 we went on our run in the playoffs without Mad Max...sometimes chemistry is more important than one more talented player.

However, we have such a shallow bench we shouldn't write him off just yet. If he signs with Dallas or Miami this will certainly put our brass to the test to put together a team that can compete for the West this season.

My reading of James from the 2 interviews is that he wants to be in Houston but Cuban and Avery have been drilling into his head that the rox disrespected him and since the deals are probably similar, he is really torn and angry. (I'm sure Avery was super intense in trying to brainwash him against the Rox)

He should really decide by midnight tomorrow or I will be convinced the man is too much of a headcase to even bother with...especially for a 4 or 5 year garunteed contract.
