here are the comparisons for lamar (first) and stevie (second). since lamar got rookie of the month, i assume the nba is trying to drum up interest in the clippers (la's a.... small market ) a kid named griffin got coRook, for reasons i am personally not aware of. G GS MPG FGM-A FG% 3PM-A 3P% FTM-A FT% OFF DEF TOT APG STL BLK TO PF PTS PPG http://www.nba.com/playerfile/lamar_odom.html 16 16 40.7 97-231 0.42 13-41 0.317 87-120 0.725 2.3 5.6 7.8 3.4 19 21 56 64 294 18.4 http://www.nba.com/playerfile/steve_francis.html 16 16 35.7 101-234 0.432 26-80 0.325 53-72 0.736 1.9 3.4 5.3 6.6 26 6 64 54 281 17.6 although I realize this will all turn around, and that the numbers were polluted by stevie taking, oh about 4 games to get used to the NBA; whereas Lamar, being the only option in lac land (other than taylor) jumped out to a headstart. given that stevie is on a better team (not by record, just by reputation ) i would think that the nba would have given up a bit more respect... again griffin is coRook? hmmm.... it's obvious that francis will have his first triple double fairly soon. (4 rebounds shy in the past 2 games of 2 triple doubles) i will also take the tiny risk of also saying that francis will be the first guard since O to have a quadruple double. but, i'm just excited b/c the kid's all over the place. (i don't want to put any pressure on the guy )
yeah, what the hell? Their #s are pretty similar. The differences: LA is a big market sucky franchise where players can play for #s and Francis has had to adjust to team concept while trying to make 2 old timers happy. Ouch! That hurts my eyes WHAM! Achebe, I see you brought up Griffin, who currently plays for the Celtics. This guy was apparently the CBA MVP last year. I must say that I'm a little surprised this guy didn't end up with the Rockets. I wonder if Rudy & Co. ever gave him a tryout? My guess is this guy actually "chose" the Celtics over other interested teams. But I also heard that he's only getting minutes due to injury to another Celtic starter (can't think of who off hand). Why would he have chosen Boston if it took an injury for him to get P.T.? Rudy's usually good at finding CBA talent, that's why I was surprised that another team beat him to the punch.
Francis can teach Odom how to shoot that's for sure. As to Griffin, man this guy can flat out play, he is only 6-5 and pulls down tons of rebounds. BTW.What happened to Devin Gray, anyone care to answer? I heard about him playing well but he disappeared after the summer league.
Griffin has been impressive. Look at the Celtics - they have Griffin, Pierce and Walker - three great young players, Hey Achebe. I'm typing this from deep in the Delta State. The Harmattan is approaching!!
davo, that's awesome, are you working, going to school, spending time w/ family?... sand... lots of sand... make sure you don't get in the way of all of that sand (those eolian processes), there are kids in SC getting hit in the faces with it all of the time.
Working Achebe. No sand yet, although I will see plenty when I'm flying over the Sahara tomorrow on my way back. Actually, I should stay away from Houston. The Rockets record when I'm in town: 1 and 11 When I'm out of town: 6 and 1! You're Welcome!
Adrian Griffin is currently filling in for the injured Danny Fortson, who was brought in this summer by Boston in a trade for Ron Mercer. Right now, Antoine Walker is playing the power forward with Griffin at the small forward. Once Fortson comes back, Rick wants to move Walker down to small forward [hence, all of the "I want him to have a Pippen-type cut" comments from Rick, this summer] and Fortson back to power forward, creating a large, powerful forward combination.
