Plus the guy has been educated by one of the best coaches in basketball. I went to a John Lucas basketball camp when I was younger. Didn't real learn much, but he brought in a different basketball-celebrity everyday that signed autographs and talked to everybody. I remember asking Van-Exel what he thought about Shaq's big contract (he had just signed with LA) and I forget what he even said, it was cool though.
LET ME CLEAR THIS UP.....The only conclusion I'm drawing at this point is that he has PO-TEN-TIAL........plain and simple hey I'll break it down even further for you...........we all know that a 6'10' high b-ball IQ, shootin white guys can stay in this league for as long as he wants as long as he can hit a open look on a consistent basis, he will get a contract from somewhere, he doesn't have to be big ben wallace .....ala the jeff fosters, doleacs, and laetners of the world today, or the danny shayes and laimbeers of yesterday....they don't have to be athletic freaks or jump out of the gym or be defensive demons because they are smart ball players who play great in a team setting and can flat out stick it if left open on a consistent basis..........Exibit A= keith van horn, the guy will get a contract from somewhere for as long as he wants because he can stick it...although not so well in the playoffs this year, padgett....you get the picture sayin all that to say I know Novak will be a welcome addition next season next to yao and tracy...as long as he sticks it....I'm not so concerned with him being Rudy Gay or Brandon Roy............Just be Novak....I think this guy will surprise people...I watched him quite a bit last year and i know he has a role here....don't care if he can take it to the cup and flush on shaq.....if he can fill a Steve kerr, Craig hodges, John paxson kinda roll here so be it....all got rings and were integrel to their teams success......... Although i do think this kid will be better than all i mentioned
So the team's looking like this if everything goes right: James Lucas Alston Head Sura Bogans TMac Bowen Howard Hayes Novak Battier Yao Mutombo Badiane or Haryasz?
How does Mike James depend on his speed? The guy isnt Parker, Devin Harris, Barbosa, etc. His jumpshot will be there even when he is old like Sam. He depends on his jumper more than nething. We need a PG that can make a mid range shot.
Sam is an enigma, he inspired the Clippers into the playoffs. Gary Payton isn't the defender he was, he's too slow nowadays.
Feels like they gave up on him...It's been ages since I've gotten any news on him. If we coudl search the forum, I bet you could dig up some dead threads about him. At least he was a waste (so far) of a second round pick and not a first rounder. I'm just wondering if Sene (No 10 pick seattle this year) will end up in similar cirumstances...(not sure if he has locked up a sonics roster spot yet...probably not?) Even tho i'm a horns guy, thanks sooner for the update on SL
Didn't Dan Langhi tear it up in a summer league a few years back? I don't put much faith into what happens the summer leagues.
Yeah thats true so he should make it, I remember last year it was almost funny to see this guy so small but playing so hard. I liked him since those games but always question his height can he be anything like mighty mouse?.
I don't know if you can call it tearing up the league. He had a pretty good game against Utah that year. The same game he was over shadowed by AK-47 who had a better game. I don't remember that he was as good as Novak, Lucas or Carroll have been this summer though. I think what Lonny Baxter did last year was the best any Rockets that I can remember doing during the summer league.
Rockets cruise over Cavaliers Jeff Seals drogers@vegassummerleague.com July 8, 2006 After being tied at 23-23 through one quarter of play with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Houston Rockets pulled away for a 73-58 victory in Toshiba Vegas Summer League action Saturday night. The Rockets used a seven point second quarter advantage (16-9) to take a 39-32 lead at the half. Neither team broke the 20-point barrier in either of their final three quarters of play, but Houston outscored Cleveland by eight in the second half. John Lucas had a game-high 23 points (9-16 FG) for Houston, while playing all but 17 seconds of the contest. Pat Carroll collected 15 points (7-18 FG) and was followed by Steve Novak's 13 and Matt Haryasz's 11 point efforts. Cleveland had two players in double-digits with Shannon Brown dropping 19 (9-14 FG) and Sasha Pavlovic scoring 16 (6-14 FG). Neither team shot exceptionally well, as both finished near the 40% mark. The Rockets made 40.6% (26-64 FG) of their shots, while the Cavaliers were good 39.1% (25-64 FG) of the time. Both teams have Sunday off and return to action on Monday afternoon. Cleveland opens the day's action against the Golden State Warriors in the Cox Pavilion at 12 p.m., while Houston plays Dallas at 2 p.m BoxScore
