Not bad at all, although I didn't like that they left it so open ended. Guess Disney plans on cashing in on the next one. The Davey Jones boat characters were both cool and disgusting. Well done.

The end was a good surprise for me. Getting into the story was a little odd, but great movie overall.

i didn't like dead man's chest very much. most of it was the same old pirate fighting, adventuring action scenes. i was pretty confused throught the whole movie and the ending plain sucked. the 3rd one better make up for this.

I watched it today and i enjoyed it. Not as good as the first one but good nonetheless. Saturdays are traditionally the highest grossing day and with it opening so strong i think it will smash Spiderman and X3 numbers. Sequels usually start off really strong on fridays and continue to die down as the weekend progress. But pirates is suited for kids and families too so i think it will hold strong.

    Fri: 55 mill
    Sat: 40- 45 Mil???
    Sun: 30-35 Mill???

    Grand Total 125--135

Hopefully it will come close to my original prediction of 134 million opening weekend .

i saw this movie (pirates 2) last night and i gotta say.... i was NOT IMPRESSED. i didn't like it at all. the story line is confusing with alot of pointless action in between. fun for the kids... but it was too "hollywood" garbage for me

wait for the dollar theatre or rent it.

I've read a few people say it's "confusing."

How? I wasn't confused at all.

Did you take your son? Next Friday is my last Friday off before school starts and I am looking for something to take my son to see.

Great question, for those of you who are parents, what age is this movie appropriate for?

    Thanks,

We took my 5 and 8 year old and their friends of 7 and 9. They all liked it and had no problems with it.

While I didn't think it was as good as the first one, it was still really fun. It was money well spent!

Best way to describe this movie: Quintessential high-budget summer blockbuster.

It's sole purpose is to entertain (a la Indepedence Day or Jurassic Park). You won't be blown away, but at the same time I doubt you'll find a single person who'll say it's a bad movie.

Just saw this and upon first viewing it's better than Curse of the Black Pearl. Lots of good action and decent humor. I liked the return of certain characters from the previous film and the Dutchman's crew, especially Davy Jones, looked really good. I'm gonna hold off final judgement on the film and series though until the 3rd one, once I can see how the characters' story arcs are concluded.
