What this game really shows is that BOTH these teams probably don't deserve to go to the playoffs right now... Hell, let the Reds and Brewers leapfrog them.

Its 2003 all over again... I could honestly see both teams sitting home come October.

Qualls and Wheeler both have ERA's in the mid-threes now. That's much better then Lidge's in the mid-fives. Either way Lidge does not deserve the closers role this season.

I meant to say that it would be more likely that they promote a new closer (if they decide to dump Lidge) out of the minors (ala Papelbon, Jenks... basically, young kids who don't know any better)... then it is to promote Chad Qualls or Dan Wheeler (who would have worse save percentages than Brad Lidge right now).

And both have blown horrible games this year as well, some of them in SPECTACULAR fashion (walk-off walks by wheeler, and game-tying grand slams by Qualls)... and having a good ERA in the other innings means nothing when you're talking about the 9th inning (see Dotel or Farnsowrth).

Jason Lane strikes out swinging at a pitch higher than his head. Unreal.

I would run Lidge out there to face Pujols...say "Pal, you got us here, you take us home"

Got to try to build his confidence somehow.

    If he loses, so what?

Jason Lane and Morgan Ensberg. There may not be two more undisciplined hitters in the league. Just keep running 'em out there I guess.

This is a nightmare. You can't depend on Brad Lidge at all anymore. He's toast. The Astros have this damn division there for the taking, but they are screwing it up. If Purpura doesn't make a move to shake this team up and show that he is a functioning GM rather than minor league cheerleader then the Astros need to can him.

Oswalt should have actually hit him in the chin, instead of getting his attention.

Albert is a god among mortals in this game...

Guys....the day Purpura sets his bag of bon-bons down and makes a mid-season move will be the day the D-Rays win the AL East...

    NEVER HAPPEN
