Francis has the 4th worst contract in the league. Just for fun, the 25 worst contracts in the league: 25. Antoine Walker -- 5 years, $45 million remaining 24. Rasho Nesterovic -- 3 years, $23.4m 23. Jamal Crawford -- 5 years, $43m 22. Brian Scalabrine -- 4 years, $12.4m 21. Jamaal Tinsley -- 5 ys, $33.6m 20. Kyle Korver -- 5 years, $23.4m 19. Adonal Foyle -- 3 years, $26.8m 18. Darius Miles -- 4 years, $34m 17. Brian Cardinal -- 4 years, $24.3m 16. Etan Thomas -- 4 years, $26.4m 15. Eddy Curry -- 5 years, $52.5m 14. Zydrunas Ilgauskas -- 4 years, $45.8m 13. Sam Dalembert -- 5 years, $50m 12. Nene -- 6 years, $60m 11. Quentin Richardson -- 4 years, $33.2m 10. Raef LaFrentz -- 3 years, $35.4m 9. Mark Blount -- 4 years, $27.5m 8. Marko Jaric -- 5 years, $35m 7. Erick Dampier -- 5 years, $50m 6. Jerome James -- 4 years, $25m 5. Chris Webber -- 2 years, $43m 4. Steve Francis -- 3 years, $52.7m 3. Stephon Marbury -- 3 years, $59.2m 2. Zach Randolph -- 5 years, $73.3m 1. Kenyon Martin -- 5 years, $71m ESPN
that doesn't work. Even if you could do that, which you can't, Juwan's salary next year will be 6.4 million. The TE is worth 4.2 million. Steve Francis makes 15 million. So not only cannot it not be done, but even if it could be done there'd still be a five million dollar difference. And I know Francis is a good rebounder but don't you think he's a little short to play power forward? Who exactly would you plan on playing at PF if this could and was done? Shane Battier and Chuck Hayes? I'm sure they'll both get playing time there, but a small forward and a 6'6 power forward as our only options there? Nice.
I would just as soon remarry my ex wife as try to get Steve Francis back on this team - i.e., ho way in hell. I loved him (her) when he (she) played for us (was married to me) but after a few years apart, why the hell would I want to put myself through that constant frustration and disappointment again?
Even if the sex was good, it's like steve francis making a dunk or a shot (feels great for a short while) but the rest of the game he sucked.
Don't we have more than one trade exception? I was under the impression that they can be combined if there is more than one. So if we do have more than one, we would be able to get someone more than that 4.2 exception everyone is saying. Aggie99, don't listen to all the haters. From the outside looking in, u can't understand it, from the inside looking out, u can't explain it. Gig'em.
I wouldn't trade Howard, Sura, Alston, and Bowen for Francis. The last thing this team needs is a max contract player who does more harm than good.
hahahaha I love Stevie Franchise to death. I'm a die-hard Rocket fan to the max extent, and I really thought the Steve Francis era Rockets could have gone far in the playoffs. I hope he has a great rest-of-career. I wish we didn't have to trade him. With that said, I hope he's not a Rocket again. He just messes up chemistry. I wouldn't want him back until "he gets it," and that'll probably never happen.
I too love Francis and cant seem to understand why in the world people dont want him back with the team he loves and would most likely play his heart out to be here and take us to the next level. Like James he shoots first pass second and like james he can put up alot of numbers only that he gets highlights with his amazing dunks cuz I feal like the fans deserve to get pumped up and not just see a boring team like the one we have and now that swift is gone its worst so why not bring steve back isint he the same as james if not better.
Because they are pursuing Mike James for the MLE (averaging about 6 million per year over 5 years), while Fancy is going to get more than 50 million over the next 3 years. He is not a max contract producer, but he has a max contract price tag.
Keep dreaming. Francis is what he is. An athletic guard tweener guard who is solid but can't help a team be amongst the elite with his point guard play. And reluctantly plays 2 guard only cuz he has to. Mike James i dont think is a better player but he for all the criticism Mike James gets ruining chemistry he's better for a team than Francis. Oh and he's not anything near worth his price tag. It'd be nice (8 years later) to say that Francis 'could become' a non-selfish contributor on a good team and limit his boneheaded decisions, but that probably wont happen. Would you pay him 15 million to take the chance for what he 'could become'? Tmac's barely even playing to his contract (considering the injuries).
Due to the price James is a way better deal than Steve but cmon Francis in Htown was great player that didnt pass the ball because he never really had anybody that was that great to pass the ball to. Yeah cat was good but then after that what? nobody was as good as he and this was his team its like saying that T-mac shoots and never gives up the ball. He was the best option to score anyways.
Exactly! I remember all to well the boneheaded decisions, turnovers etc. Not what you want from a max contract player. I'll pass on Stevie "Has Been"
