Ok, don't kill me, I am just curious and didn't see this anywhere else. Saw that it was reported late last night that the 'Skeeta' was waived by the Blazers. Ok, I know that he has not lived up to the hype. And frankly I cannot recall ever actually seeing the guy play in a game, so my question is this: has anyone out there actually seen the guy play, and does he have ANY potential to maybe turn a corner? Can he do ANYTHING that might be able to help this team? Playing for so many teams in so few years would probably indicate a big fat 'NO', but it seems like such a waste of a lottery pick. I have just been trying to think of people who have not had much success anywhere else, but who might be able to fit in here for what we need. Can't get visions of finding the next Diaw, along with Morey's moneyball concepts.. maybe some guy like 'Skeeta', maybe not him, but someone like that who has been flying under the radar, in the wrong system, not getting the pt, or just plain not blossoming yet. Is this guy just a total loss, a complete bust, or was there really some legit reason he was signed as high as he was?
It would be worth it if the PA announcer played an audio clip of the words "Aww skeet skeet skeet!" every time he scored.
I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and predict JVG would never play him.......ya know, just a hunch.
The whole board would go "limp" if JVG picked Skeeta up and played him after trading Rudy Gay....and I'm not going out on a limb to say this.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (just giving you a hard time) But in all seriousness, all you need to know, if you haven't seen him play, is he was cut by the Blazers.
Whoops, typo.....haha But for real, this guy clearly can't cut it. If you're supposed to be one of these "Gifted offensively, no defense" kind of players and you can't play for the SUNS then something is seriously wrong. I bet even Lampe is better than this guy at this point and we all know what happened with him.
Everybody could see it was a typo. I just couldn't help having a little fun with it, especially since the entendre was so perfect.
I've seen the guy play in person, he sucks and I don't know what the hell scouts were smoking when they were hyping him in the draft. His shot flat out sucks. For a so called pure shooter with range, he gets very little rotation on his shot, low to no arc. He plays very weak and hasn't really bulked up and is a step too slow to be considered an "athletic" big man. Definitely not NBA material.
Hey Doc, always glad to hear you chime in. Would you mind gracing us with your thoughts on the off season so far and any future plans you may wish to share? Anything would be greatly appreciated... even a cryptic sentence or phrase or word.
Saw him play a lot during his tenure with the Nuggets (can't really speak for his play afterwards). During his rookie season, he was actually given a chance to play and hopefully develop, and you could see straight up that he was not ready for the NBA. He didn't have a quick release, his shot was flat, slow feet, weak weak weak, bad positioning and most importantly, he never showed any type of bball IQ or desire to get better. He just seemed lost, all the time. He was both a defensive AND an offensive liability; so as the season wore on, his minutes started to dwindle, even on a very bad team. Then Melo came along in 2003, as well as the free agent signings, and he was basically a bench warmer for the rest of that season (and so far in his career). This is a case of a guy perhaps needing to stay in Europe to get more seasoning before coming to the NBA. And even then, he was probably never going to make it. In the NBA he has not been able to improve due to his lack of playing time, and he doesn't seem to have the desire and drive anyway. Skita is IMO, the very definition of an European bust. Guy is NOT an NBA player and the Rockets should stay as FAR away as possible.
