Walt has a 5 year contract worth $20M ending in 2002. That works out to about 4.12M this season (99-2000).
Don't give up on Walt yet. He's been playing poorly (and losing minutes because of it), but I expect to eventually see why it is Rudy wanted him in the first place. Career, he is 37% from the 3 point line.
Sorry Juan, but if I showed up at my job and coasted 18 straight times, the only thing they would give me would be a pink slip. Bench his sorry ass and give somebody else a shot. ------------------ The truth is out there... but I forget where... [This message has been edited by Mulder (edited December 06, 1999).]
hey - robert horry used to coast for 82 games and then play big at playoff time. . . nah, thats no excuse, but I am not giving up on walt by any stretch. Give him time, give him time.
Yeah, but at $1.2 Million a year, when he was with the Rockets, Robert earned his bones as a defensive stopper many a night against some of the league's better forwards (3 and 4 postions equally). He still remains one of the purest shooters I have ever witnessed. Bar none. If Walt had half of Long Bob's D skills I would never complain about him.
Walt will come around soon. I think Cat should start at sg, and Shandon should start at sf. Letting Walt come in against the 2nd team will give him more open shots and help him get his shot back. ------------------ the Heat suck!!
In my opinion Walt is playing some of the best defense that I've seen him play in years. He did an excellent job on Abdur-Rahim, who is one of the better forwards in the league. Give Walt a break, his offensive game is not there right now but he is doing other things to help out the team (D and rebounding). He is a good shooter and his shot will come back, Bryce Drew is an excellent testiment to that.
Walt's D is good????????????????????? What games are you watching? His D is terrible. There's a reason he was named worst defender in the NBA. Laziness is the biggest quarell I have about his D. Everyone saw that nasty Dunk by Mo in the Clippers game right? Did anyone else notice that Walt only had about 5 secs to get in front of him and utterly refused to get posterized. He could of put up a good challenge on that shot, instead he chose to turn and watch Mo go by him for the Dunk.
Mulder, I can coast 18 straight days at my job and still get stunning reviews come the end of the year. Seems to me you're in the wrong line of work.
Uh, dreamshake... Maurice Taylor is a POWER forward. Walt would not have been holding him in the first place. When was he named the worst defender in the NBA, I didn't know that that was award given at the end of the year. True his defensive reputation before coming to the Rock's was not great, but from what I've seen his defense has been pretty solid. What SMALL forward has really eaten us up this year? The simple fact is that Walt is 3rd on our team in blocks per game (behind Olajuwon and Cato)and 5th on our team in steals. You have to admit he is definitely trying to work on the defensive portion of his game.
Uhhhhhhh O.... The play Im refering to wasnt Walt on Mo. It was Mo catching a swing pass filling the lane from the swing. Walt was already in the lane as Mo caught the pass. Instead of challenging the shot, which he had about realistically 2 seconds to do. (A lifetime) He casually strolled in the other direction. Lazy D. I don't know if were watching the same games, but all I see Walt doing is falling for every pump this side of Exxon as he weakly swipes at the ball, drawing fouls. Cant remember who exactly does the yearly worst in the NBA defenders list. But as I recall Wizard was voted the worst. Barkley won the award one year also. Some here knows, I remember them posting it. Right now Wizard's D is as awefull as his J.
His Defense is not all that bad the way some of you guys make it sound. Sure he gets schooled by some players but he doesnt do that bad at times. I think the reason he does have a bad shot right now is because Rudy is making him work alot of Defense and when he shoots the ball, he is tired so he cant hit it. Thats why we should put him on the bench. He will be more helpful off the bench.
Yeah, I can post 3,000 messages on CC.com, er, CC.net while on the job and still get glowing reviews. God Bless America! God Bless Walt! CBrownFanClub
